but when you consider the weak dollar and the fact OPEC runs off the dollar.. and the dollar is ... what almost 1 dollar = 2 euro? your still paying more... but only by 50 cents-ish.

I still do NOT envy the prices Europe has to pay for gas.

You're right, 1 euro is 1.5 dollars so we pay 7.50 for one gallon
And indeed for you guys the problem begins when the OPEC changes the dollar for the euro (if it ever happens). Over here 63% of the price is tax, on the other hand our highways are like pooltables that smooth (from taxmoney).

To keep it simple 1 dollar is 1 euro.
Regular is around 2.50 euro's for 1 liter. So for 1 gallon regular we pay 9.47!!
So my question to you, who would drive his car when one gallon would be just under 10 bucks?

I believe that most of what you pay for gas is taxes, thats your goverment at work. Public transportation is much better in Europe then in the U.S., so here because we are so spread out we realy need our cars. Of course we dont need such big cars, and we are spoiled.

Here in the Twin Cities metro it's was around $3.12 a few days ago and I think it was $3.09 yesterday.

I could use a tune up as I can't get anything over 22 MPG and a few summers ago I was getting 30 in my Grand Prix. By the sounds of some of your posts, things certainly could be worse.

Went up to $3.55 for premium but we all run 87 which got up to $3.45. Went down to $3.25 though..

I have to use 91 right now its at $2.03!

Only had my Ford Lightning for 5 months now but if the gas prices stay high to long I am going to have to sell it.

Looking back to the first page, that's NOTHING compared to what the prices are now. At my local Quikstop, the 87 octane is about $3.25 and it's the cheapest gas station around the city.

In my area its $3.45 for regular. It doesent matter if you use off brand gas like Citgo or Clark, or good gas like Shell or BP Amoco.
