#80 + NXT Tech Wax

Hi zey,

Can I ask, is the DeWalt DW 443 the same as the G-100 & 7424 ie dual action?

I ask because I'll be able to get that here in the UK and I would rather stick to the straight forward simple to use machine (G-100/7424) rather go to the orbital as a first step.

Blr123, Dewalt DW443 is also a dual action polisher, similar to G100a/PC7424. I haven't tried G100a yet (due to availability and 240V power source), but I've heard that DW443 being more torque and it won't bog down when I apply pressure. But I guess it's as noisy (or noisier) compared to G100a. UK version has higher OPM range, please check out from DeWALT UK website. Mine is made in USA but 240V version.

Blr123, I have modified my machine to a 5" custom made backing pad. So it fits nicely with MG's 6.5" pads.

Tim, this product gives me an impression as though it's a Hyper Yogurt (Grape Flavour), dilutable yogurt.

Blr123, you're absolutely most welcome.

Yesterday's engine detailing result is out. I first washed down the engine with Super Degreaser (4:1) and applied Hyper Dressing (3:1) using a dispenser. Same goes to the wheel wells. Extremely satisfied with the ease of use and result.

Hey guys, thanks for the kind words. I'm extremely happy with the Hyper Dressing and it makes me like to detail the wheel wells more often. I know people don't squat down to peep at my wheel wells, but I feel as if I'm driving a brand new car everyday! Got more toys over the weekend...

Got a new random orbital buffer! It's a Bosch GEX 270AE. It comes with a 5" backing pad, suitable for 6.5" pads. Very low operation noise level, light (1.5kg), speed variable, designed for UK/Asia use with 240V motor and UK 3-pin plug. Gonna try it soon to remove holograms. Hope that no micro-marring will be induced.

Hi Bryan, as promised, after washing my car just now, I tried to use the new Bosch machine to remove the holograms which I put on 2 weeks ago using #80/W-9006/rotary. Perhaps my rotary machine handling skill is bad. Here is how the paintwork looks like after car wash.



Then I slap on #80 with W-9006 and run it for a while and buff it away. Holograms and swirls are gone, very little micro-marring. As Mike mentioned before it's a Catch-22, since my paintwork is too soft and it mars easily. To choose between holograms and micro-marring, I'll live with a little bit of micro-marring.



Finish it off with NXT Tech Wax. As usual, it looks flawless.



As you notice my paintwork is solid black, any slight defect can be observed easily using the right lighting. It's PITA to maintain...I hope what I did today is a permanent removal of holograms, won't come back after a car wash.

Just a question: By referring to the photo below, should I stop buffing the #80 at this moment?

It's kind of hard to tell from the photo the film of M80 on the surface, but here's what I show people at our detailing classes,

As you're polishing with a dual action polisher, the film on the surface behind the polisher opposite the direction you're moving the polisher, should always be a wet/moist film, never dry. If you buff long enough that the film you're leaving behind is dry, you are buffing to long and need to stop sooner.

Also, before applying more product and continuing, remove the residue on the surface so you don't mingle new product with used up product.
