Hey Mike, Tim here I belong to that Crimson Red 94. First a big thumbs up & thanks to an absolutely great Saturday. The knowledge and enthusiasm I took home is developing into something I had not expected, my neighbors and fellow workers want to bring their cars over to my house, lol.
However the wife has already placed dibs on her neglected 528 to be first. I will take some before & afters and post them.

Don't blame me....
Seriously, I had just as good a time as everyone else and I appreciate so many serious enthusiasts coming on down to Meguiar’s Garage!
Stay tuned, more pictures of the even being uploaded as we speak.

Meguiar's is all about sharing the passion and the pizza!
The passion side of Meguiar's is about the love we all share for our favorite cars specifically and the car hobby in general. The car hobby brings people together for good times and good food.
About the time we finished the above two red Ford Lightnings, the pizza was delivered. Time for some car talk amongst friends and to load up on some fuel so that we can keep on detailing!

Originally posted by Svtlightning195 Well I would just like to say I had the pleasure of bringing in my Gen 1 Lightning and meeting these people, especially Mike Phillips. He was a very cool guy and has given me the secrets to restore my paint. Before I talked with him today I was ready to get it repainted, he proved to me I can restore my old paint with the right "recipe" and some dedication. All I can say is thank You very much, Id love to bring the truck by again after I do the whole thing as we did to the passenger door and have you overlook what I did.
Hi Svtlightning195,
Your truck was a challenge… but… I love a challenge. I’m sorry that I couldn’t help you to buff out the entire truck, it will take a some time and some patience to finish the job.
Just so everyone can see what were talking about, below are some before pictures.
Something happened to the engine that caused oil to be splattered all over the outside of the front fenders and both doors. A well meaning friend tried to help out by spraying a strong degreaser all over the paint. While the degreaser may have greatly helped to remove the oil, it also left the clear coat, (over black), stained in such a way that the stains appeared white. The problem is that the staining isn’t *on* the paint, it’s *in* the paint.
Here are some before pictures,

First we tried using ScratchX by hand. While this removed some of the staining and restored a more clear finish, it isn’t wasn’t enough to bring it to acceptable standards.

Because these stains are in the paint and not merely sitting on the top surface of the paint, in order to remove them, we were going to have to try something a little more aggressive than ScratchX by hand.
Experience told me it would require a rotary buffer and probably Meguiar's W-7006 foam cutting pad with either a cleaner/polish or a compound.
Meguiar's always says, "Use the least aggressive product to get the job done"
(The reason for this is to remove as little paint as possible while still removing the defect).
In the photo above, if you look close, I'm using the foam pad on it's edge to get in real close around the door lock and do some focused work in tight area. Later, I would make some cover passes holding my pad flat in these same areas.
After massaging the paint in and around the door handle and the door lock areas with the maroon foam cutting pad, I then re-buffed the area with the rotary buffer again, only this time I substituted a softer buffing pad, Meguiar's W-8006 polishing pad and again used the #83 DACP.
After the above procedures, I then had the owner apply the NXT Tech Wax using the G-100 dual action polisher, and a W-8006 foam polishing pad that was dedicated for the NXT Tech Wax.

The 94 L looks SUPER!!!!! The Lightning Owners are typically a lively bunch... From past experience, you will be hard pressed to find a more dedicated group of guys and gals.
I hope that California folks realize how good they have it!! Then again I guess having the Meg's headquarters right in your backyard is a fair tradeoff for having to deal with the Hollywood loonies!!

Here's some reflection shots of the passenger's door after buffing out the stains and applying the NXT Tech Wax.
Here's another,
and one more,
These after photo's have a little bit of a blue hue to them, to me this indicates that I didn't do a white balance before taking the shots. It was also late into the day, after 5:00pm I think and the sun was setting.
In reality, the paint is back to it's normal black color. Perhaps the owner can upload, or e-mail me a photo that shows the results in better light.
Also note in the last photo above, if you look towards the top of the door, you can still see some of the staining. I didn't spend much time in this area moslty because it was a very busy day and I had a lot of members that wanted to bring their trucks in for some detailing work. Mostly I buffed around the door lock just to see if it could be fixed without repainting.

After claying the finish, a single coat of NXT Tech Wax was applied using the G-100 dual action polisher. The truck was then pulled out into the sun for inspection...

Here a club member can be seen removing NXT Tech Wax using a microfiber polishing cloth after first removing many of the swirls and scratches using the G-100 and #83 DACP.
