The foam gun is awsome, so far Ive used deep crystal car wash (3 oz, on full and trerrible foam) and a car wash by simoniz. Im gonna try Gold class shampoo or nxt car wash? wich one produces a better foam ( longlasting, thick)?

        Super Soap works well.

Sounds like a good tool to me. I've got to have one now.

Super Soap foams better than GC. Although I mix SS, GC, and NXT in the foam gun.

Nick, from your experience, do you think that the foam process lifts up a layer of dirt therefore lessening the chances of swirls? Sometimes, I don't see a difference before/after foaming.

                  Thanks.

I dont think it does. Depends on how long you let the foam dwell too IMO.

As you know, I foam up sections, let it dwell less than a minute then proceed to agitate with my wash mitt and then rinse and move onto the next section.

If theres a good amount of soap left in the jar after doing the whole vehicle then I just use it up by foaming the vehicle down all at once instead of pouring it out and wasting it.

When washing that black Sierra I feel so much more confident using the foam gun since it adds a lot more lubricity and the wash mitt glides across the paint.

I have tried foaming up the vehicle all at once and then rinsed it off just to see what it looked like, and it still looked pretty dirty. You definitly still have to agitate with a wash mitt.

I think it may lift up a micro thin layer of dirt off the finish but not enough as to where you could tell. Maybe if I let it dwell longer it would lift up more dirt?

On my next detail, after doing the wheels, tires, and wells, I am going to foam up the entire vehicle initially and then re foam the working sections as I go. I want to try it this way before settling on my existing method.

I would also like to point out that I try not to let the foam dwell too long since I like a lot of foam on the vehicle while agitating.

Right after I took these two pic, I grabbed the wash mitt and agitated the areas where the foam was applied:

Thanks for the quick response Nick. Well a lot of people use the foam gun as a pre-rinse and most of them say that it releases the heavy dirt and contaminants so when you wash the car with the 2BM, then there's less dirt that could potentially swirl up the finish. I just don't see it happening. What people do is foam the entire car like you do and let it dwell for like 5 minutes before it dries. Then rinse it off and procede to wash the car normally...

                            I couldnt do that.

I feel as if I have to be in constant contact with foam while washing the vehicle.

Otherwise it just feels like the "old" way.

Exactly my thoughts. I don't see the need for the foam gun to be used as a pre-rinse. It's just a waste of soap IMO. I see the foam gun as a benefit when used the same way you are doing.. Foam each panel and wash it at the same time.

So Nick, do you only have 1 bucket left? Do you use it as a rinse bucket and you eliminated the soap bucket?

I have not had a problem leaving soap in the jug until next time. I just add some more soap, and fill up with water.

If you were traveling, you may need to seal it better.

I may pre-rinse in the middle of winter, with some big chunks of dirt/grime. Maybe it would work better with a stronger soap, but dont want that.
