Re: Is a Gilmour Foam Gun worth the money?

DP Extreme Foam is INSANE in the foam gun.

Personally I use Chemical Guys Wash and Gloss, but any soap will work in it. Just try different amounts until you are comfortable with the outcome. Start with 1oz of soap and then move accordingly. You will NEVER need more than 2oz in the canister regardless of what soap you are using.

The soap stays on the car for a decent amount of time, but the goal is to get it to have the dirt and debris run off before you start your wash process. The foamier your solution the longer it will stay on the vehicle. Like I said, I like mine to be soapier rather than foamier.

Re: Is a Gilmour Foam Gun worth the money?

I'll just toss in my thought:

Since Meguiars wants their soap to be used at 128:1, I make sure I am at or slightly above that ratio when doing my main washing on the car.

I am sure there would be foam with less, but I want the good lubrication, not just foam staying on the surface.

So even if you use another brand, I would use it at the right ratio. And then you would do the math for how much you are putting in the container, the water added, the dilution ratio of the nozzle.

I should have them up tomorrow, I just got home from doing a couple trucks, A Sierra and a Silverado.

Tomorrow I have an F-650 to polish and seal. Foaming up this beast should be fun.

I'm foaming at the mouth, just looking at it.

That actually looks like a challenging truck to detail. Have fun. I look forward to the pics.

I have done this one before, its not that hard. I just cannot wait to foam it up.

Is the Foam Gun worth it? IMO it's worth every cent and I wouldn't be without it. I've had mine for many years and there isn't a time where I wished I didn't buy it.

The last time I did a complete detail on it was about a year ago, but I remember it taking about a full day, interior included.

It's funny paypal is holding me up in buying it...On Aug 4th i ordered a bunch of things from AutoGeek and somethings was going to be duble the money to ship cause i'm in canada so i didn't get everyting i ordered..so Autogeek refuneded me $50 which was almost half on what i spent with them and for some reason paypal takes their sweet time to refund the money in my account..but within 2 days they took my money out of my account...rrrrr So once i get the money from paypal i am ordering the wolfgang foam gun from Autogeek.

The AG branded foam guns are made by Gilmour and the only difference is the sticker on the canister. Search around for the Gilmour foam gun, you can find it alot cheaper than AG.

I just heard about the Gilmour and know very little about it. Does it allow you to quickly switch back and forth from foam to rinse?

On the adjustable model, you can flip the 'adjuster' over to just get water.

Its not bad for a rinse to get some soap off, its a bit splashy to do a good final rinse.

The one with the brass pin/meter, you can push the pin in or outwards and it will spray just water. The flow of water from it isn't that great to rinse, so it would be better to just pull back on the quick release and spray off with the pistol grip.
