Hey everybody, I have a couple of questions for those who have or have used a foam gun, I was thinking of buying one and I want to know if its even worth it at $65 + shipping before I buy it. What do you guys/girls like about it and what do you not like ? Thanks!

Re: Is a Gilmour Foam Gun worth the money?
I absolutely love mine.
Presoaking the car and making sure you have sufficient lubrication on the paint before you ever touch the car is a sure fire way to aviod swirls
Seriously...I broke my first one (ran over it, lol) and bought another one I liked it so much.
The gun/trigger on it ***** for normal spraying though (very hard to get a fan pattern out of it). If you unscrew the quick-connect from it it works great though. Get a pair of vice grips and you can twist it off...then just put it on and off by hand from then on.

I love mine, but not as some miracle tool...
I will pre-soak in the winter when it is bad.
But usually I just wash panel by panel like anyone else, spraying the panel and sponge and then wash.
I like it, but it isnt nothing miraculous, and can certainly be swirl free if carefull with the regulat 2-bucket method.2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue

Re: Is a Gilmour Foam Gun worth the money?
I'm debating if i should buy one too.
I got a few questions When you guys spray the car with it ..do you let it soak then rince it off and then wash the car with wash bucket and wash mitt or do you use a wash mitt and wash the car while it completely covered??

Rinse, foam, agitate, rinse, move onto next section.
I still do the wheels, tires, and wells first as well.Nick

Re: Is a Gilmour Foam Gun worth the money?
Definitely going to want a bucket to rinse your wash mitt at a minimum. I treat it like a two bucket wash except the wash solution bucket only has a couple of gallons instead of my typical four. Working in sections like Tuck said will help prevent water spotting.

I'm curious to hear what you have to say about the Gilmour Gun in a few months time.
I wonder if the novelty will wear off.

Tuck, so do you still use the 2BM?
I noticed that boiler does and I'm wanting to get your opinion.

It already takes me ages to wash/dry the car! lol.. Plus, I've managed to do it swirl free until now by just using the 2BM with grit guards.Originally posted by BluelineI own a silver vehicle and a black vehicle owns me. The black one demands attention, washing, detailing, waxing and an occasional dinner out at a nice restaurant. The silver one demands nothing and it looks just fine. I think the black vehicle is taking advantage of me, and the silver car is more my style. We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

I've been thinking about a foam gun too, but my main concern is that it will take me even longer to wash the car, by adding to the amount of equipment needed and complexity of the process.
