The 18-105 is the better lens. Although, the D90 can correct chromatic aberration - usually higher in longer zooms.
The question is how often do you need the extra 105 to 200. If I was doing a lot of distance photography (maybe like at a race, etc) then you may need the extra reach.
In a similar tone as J20DB, most DSLR's have a lot of capability. The real secret to success is to understand why the camera decides things (what to focus on, what sections it determines exposure, when it can change the iso automatically, aperature/shutter speed/iso settings, etc).
