    • This morning, I went to a BP station , and they were out of gas altogether. I live in NJ, and expected the states closer to the gulf that were effected by the hurricane to have problems. But the Northeast?

I was able to get gas @ a LUKOIL, but they are consistently 15 cents more expensive than other stations in my area.

I've noticed a few stations in the Philly area that have "No Gas" signs posted.

The gas situation is going to have a big effect on how people live. The extra money spent is going to chip away at people's disposable income. I've actually changed my driving habits. I pay more attention to the RPMs and shift to a higher gear earlier. I don't get the same driving excitement but a tank of gas lasts just a little longer

          • Southern California so far has plenty of gas. The current price for regular is $2.91.

                  • I saw a map of the gas pipelines that come from the gulf up to our area. These same lines are the ones that help supply the northeast.

The pipelines are supposedly back up and working but only in a limited capacity. It appears that the damage to the refineries around LA is not as bad as initially thought. However, it is a different story for the oil platforms in that part of the Gulf.

Gas was scarce around here yesterday. Prices have jumped .50 to .75 in places. Most people panicked initially and began filling up everything. But most places that were out of gas yesterday are back up and running today. The oil company gas stations (Shell, Texaco, Chevron, BP) seem fine. It is the independents who are having a hard time getting gas. Regular is running 2.95 to 3.50 depending on location.

                      • Gas here in southern Vermont has jumped over $0.90 per gallon already. Yesterday jumped $0.50 alone.

                        • The price here was over $3 and they are pretty much out of gas here in town. Last thing I heard emergancy management was shutting down all gas stations. Some friends here are stuck because they have no gas left and they can't fill up.

We had the problem with electricity out west a few years ago.. never a shortage, just manufactured in the board rooms of greedy electric executives... now look where they are... at the grey bar motel most of them...
