Notice it goes up real fast when the cost per barrel does but drops extra slow even after barrel cost goes down.
Oil companies know they have a relatively captive audience so to speak.
Well here in the UK it's on it's way to $9 per imperial gallon

Also, your cost comes down all be it slowly, unfortunately here in the UK we have a ratbag (I can think of much much stronger language to use for this excuse for a human being) chancelor called Brown who sees that as an opportunity to fill his coffers with even more of the motorists hard earned money

I think it's best if I ignore this thread from here on as this is a subject that irks me something terrible

    • Do they not realize how much they are screwing the economy?
$9 a gallon! In areas w no mass transit there will literally be people quitting jobs because they’ve no way in.

      • Thought I resurrect this old thread since it's been a while since anyone's posted here.

Anyway, I saw regular unleaded for $2.32 a gallon yesterday in South Carolina.

It's dropping quite a bit here too, but K-1 kero is still selling for $3.00 a gallon!

        Can't figure that one out.

I use a natural gas furnace, but those space heaters help out in really bad weather.

                    • 93 octane for the Bimmer 2.79, 87 octane for the SUV 2.59 cruising the Bimmer at 110 mph and watching the gas needle hit empty, priceless.

                      • I hope you're not complaining about the gasprices?

Over here in The Netherlands I pay € 1,424 per liter

This is compared to you lucky guys over there....!!!!

                        one gallon = 3.785 liters
                        price per gallon

                        1,424 * 3.785 = € 5,39

                        This in Dollars......

                        € 5,39 * 1.2 = $ 6,47 per gallon.... (98 octane)
So, that's almost 3,5 times the price per gallon in the USA.

                        I drive 23,65 miles with a gallon.

This is like saying, "Don't complain about your lung cancer, because I have brain cancer".

It doesn't matter whether you pay $1/gal or $10/gal. If your price goes up 50%, you're going to feel the hit. Goods that we buy are shipped by trucks that use gas, so it's only a matter of time before the high fuel costs cause inflation in other areas.

I'm sure somewhere, someone is paying more for gas than you are, but I don't think that makes you lucky. It could always be worse, sure, but I think it's still pretty crappy.

That said, gas here is finally down to the $2.50 range for regular. Better than it was, but not as good as it could be.

                          • Saw K-1 selling for $3.29 a gallon.

It went up with gas prices, but it's not coming down like it should.

I wonder what home heating oil is selling for?

Funny comparison.... it´s not quite fair.

In my opinion, you don´t have anything to complain about.
You´re right it´s ****** when prices go up.

But..... until you´re paying the same as we in Europe do, I can´t feel sorry for your position.
That´s all I wanted to say.

Either way.... I don´t drive a mile less while the prices at the pump go up.
                              What about you guys?

That's fine. No one is asking you to.

And as long as anyone anywhere is paying more for gas than you are, you can't compain either.
