For hours of buffing you should wear hearing protection as should anyone working near you.

        Safety first.

In your opinion, which one better Mike? Hitachi or Makita? (it's durability, quality etc)

Re: plan to purchase new rotary

          I now have a Makita 9227CB and I LOVE IT !!!

It's lightweight, very good to handle and makes a pleasant sound.

The backing plate holds the pads very good - you can turn on the Makita to full speed without watching your pad fly away !

What should I say - You guys helped me to do the right choice !

          Thanks !

My name is not Mike (as I don't work for Meguiar's) but IMHO Hitachi has an edge over Makita. It is quiter (to me), like Mike noted, it is bit lighter, sits better in _my_ hand, and has 5 year warranty (over Makita's one year).

Price should be your last concern. This is your main tool, your money maker. get one that feels good and you would like to take to bed with you.

Re: plan to purchase new rotary

dont mean to be rude but i think you guys are focus too much on the warranty time.... i have seen a lot of products that have a 3 or 5 years warranty (even lifetime) fail that i prefere a product with 1 year warranty but that have a solid reputation. after all, warranty is great but nobody wants to use it very often...

my vote is for the makita 9227c, old fashion for sure, but bullet proof.

I would suggest that whatever brand the deciding factor should be that the speed control be in the trigger.
