Speaking of shelf life, the only time I've ever had a problem is with Swirl Remover 2.0... great stuff, but even stored inside at room temp it only lasted a year and the nice white thick puss turned into a more clear water.... bummed out that I only got to use my bottle once! I wanted to do a complete detail on the first warm day this year and use my Swirl Remover 2.0 (I think it blows away Scratch-X) and my bottle turned into water in only one year being stored indoors!?

Perhaps a person should give them a good shake once in a while. I would think this would help promote longevity.

Wait a minute! 2.0 has been out for 5 years already? I still have my can of the original tech wax in the closet from when that first came out, I didn't realize 2.0 has been out for five years already? Wow....time is flying by so fast anymore...... Jeez I'll be 90 years old and dead by tomorrow at this rate!

BTW I really really like the swirl hiding ability of NXT 2.0... a definite improvement over the original. I think it easily beats out my previous lazy man by hand one step do-it-all...AutoGlym Super Resin Polish. I just hate how the water beading is so weak and doesn't seem to last with NXT. Give me Liquid Glass beading and durability with NXT 2.0 Swirl hiding then you really have something going!

Why water beading is so important to me is that 1) it gives my a visual cue that there is in fact still protection on the paint, and 2) I just like to see water beading on a vehicle...it looks cool. (plus I've always waxed my windows so water sheets off and makes visibility so much better in the rain)

Trying 2.0 is one thing, it is definatley an upgrade.

As far as life, 3-5 years would be reasonable, as long as the product isnt seperating too badly. You can fix mild seperation with shaking. So basically, as long as it is shaken every so often and kept at a reasonable temperature, it will be fine.

Do any of the waxes or polishes expire? That is to say, is there a point in time that they either loose there effectiveness or even become bad for auto finishes? I have a bottle of the original NXT which is probably coming into it's 3rd season. Should I chuck it? Time to try 2.0 I think?

The best way that I've heard it described is "whisper thin". That helps you visualise how little to apply.

Sometimes, I experience this too. So what I do is wait for 12 hours to let the polymers set into their place, then use a quick detailer to remove the oily residue.

I have also done this to remove excess, however this was in the past when I would apply it too thickly.

Truth is you only need a very thin coat. If you have ever used M16 and know how to apply it correctly (as in a very thin coat) try the same process with NXT 2.0.

All in all you'd be get more out of the product by applying 2 thin coats 12 hours apart than wasting the same amount by applying 1 thick coat that won't afford any extra protection and only waste the stuff.

Sometimes, I experience this too. So what I do is wait for 12 hours to let the polymers set into their place, then use a quick detailer to remove the oily residue.

which one is better paste or liquid version?

Just personal preference, I go liquid. Some say you use a bit more liquid, but I like the fact that you arent rubbing a dirty pad into your wax.

It has also been mentioned in the past that paste waxes may dry a bit faster in a damp environment.

Vince, as you've discovered, it really comes down to drying time. Just as you were unsure about a long drying time due to previous old school carnauba experiences, so are many others. Because of this people tend to not let NXT dry long enough, and it is very common for people to apply it too heavy. In many case, far too heavy.

A heavy coat, and cool temperatures and/or high humidity will really prolong the drying time. Removing too soon can sometimes result in some streaking that is most noticeable on darker colors. A very thin coat is all that's needed, really just a couple of ounces to cover a full sized sedan. If you apply the wax and then start cleaning the interior, wheels, tires, etc and then clean up your garage, enough time should have passed for the wax to be sufficiently dry that removal won't be an issue at all.

I think I figured it out. It has been pretty cold, so i let it dry overnight and it buffed off pretty well. I was afraid to let it dry too much recalling the old carnuba wax days, but I saw a post on how easily this comes off. Coould probably use less as well. Thanks for your input!

You are probably applying it too thick. A little goes a long way! Get your quick detailer, and spray the area. Wipe-off, and then turn the towel over and to give it a final buff. This should help.
