I'm going to order some M105 soon and want to get as much info out of as many people as I can haha
Well I only used the M105 to spot hit the 3 major scratches on the car, so while I didn't experience any gumming up it's possible I could have if I'd done more panels. I really just wanted to see what the M105 could do with a scratch using the FLEX and W8006. I will try out other combinations when I have a better test subject, the Accord was pretty nice aside from the 3 scratched areas.

Really? How much you pick it up for?

FYI, I think the 3401 is actually considered a Dual action polisher since it has both the random orbital motion and a forced roational drive.

What speed did you use when you used W8006 and #105?
Detailing cars is a form of art. Most appreciate it, few possess the required skill and even fewer understand it.

I was on a speed of 5. Not sure if that's the best setting yet or not. I didn't really like it at a setting of 6 though.

I think your right, it's a DA polisher. I picked it up for 151 euro's (ex transport) but they retail for 350 over here so a good deal for an almost new 3401

              Next on my list a 3403 or a 9227

W8006 for both the M105 and M80. I was surprised how fast it removed those scratches!

Thanks for the rest of the comments too. It was nice to be able to work on a car again. It's the first one I've done if a 4-5 months now. I'm on Spring Break so I had some time finally. Too bad I don't get paid for working on the girls car. Well, at least not in money that is.

Just wanted to ask how you store your Flex when not in use, do you store it with the backing plate resting on the surface or upside down with the body resting on the surface (like you would with a rotary) and the backing plate not touching anything? Because when mine was shipped to me it was in a position where in the backing plate was resting on the surface and I'm not really sure if that is a good thing.

                Thanks!

All my polishers get set on their backs.

I don't recall how mine was packaged but I know it had foam inserts in it so there was not any uneven presure on the backing plate.

                  Did you buy it new?

                          Rasky,
Did you have any issues with the pad fitting on the backing plate? I read that its the same size as the velcro on the w8006 pads.

Not wanting to hijack this thread or or steer this away from the nice work that Rasky did, but my experience with the Flex XC3401VR and the black backing plate that it now ships with is that it will ruin a Meguiars x006 series pad because the backing plate goes out further than the Velcro on the pad does, and it cuts into the foam. I ruined two pads before I switched to a CCS pad. Sydster wrote me, he had the same problem. The foam Solo pads work well on this machine as they fit the back perfectly and Rick at ADS is carrying a new Cross Cut Flex pad that has beveled edges where it wont grab the way at CCS pad does on this machine. Just wanted to give a heads up as I have not seen too much info on this, so be careful if you use a 6.5" meguiars pad or you could ruin it.

I have not noticed any damage to any of my pads as of yet but I will keep you posted if I notice anything in the future.

Thanks for the heads up guys.

Looks good Rasky. Have you gotten used to the differences between the Flex and the Porter Cable? I need to come out and see for myself what your Flex can do. I think I may get one too.
