Another mentor added to my list! Great job Tim! Seeing the resluts on that truck gives me hope on my late Grandpa's 97' F150 long bed. Bring it back to it's former glory.

Great job on the clean up. I could only imagine what was running through your mind when you first saw it's condition.

          Hello Tim,

I know that this is an old post (great job by the way) I see that you used #84 and #83 with your rotary. I assume that they are both compounds.

You then used a DA to glaze with #80. The #21 is that a wax?

Would you say it's better to glaze with the DA instead of a rotary?

Also those seats came out really great. All you used was the upholstery cleaner? No extractor?

          Thanks,

          Tony

I'm confused. You said "used a DA to glaze with #80" and then asked "better to glaze with the DA instead of a rotary?" According to that statement, he did glaze with the DA. I'm pretty sure that Tim used the 80 and DA in order to remove either micro marring or hazing that the compounds left and to give that final pop to it. Also, M80 has polishing oils that 84 and 83 do not have. And yes, #21 is a wax.

Re: So you want Extreme???!!!!!! 56K beware!

              Hi Tony,

              Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

For most details that I do, I use the rotary about 90% of the time as I prefer the liquid look that the rotary creates.

After the compounding with the M84 and M83 with the rotary, I sometimes move to M80 with the rotary or M80 with the DA depending on the paint. In this case I moved to M80 with the DA.

I did/do not use M80 as a glaze. Instead, I used it an an ultra-refining step to remove even the tiniest amounts of micromarring. When used correctly, M80 removes the micromarring and does not merely cover it up. I make sure all micromarring is completely gone.

I then used #21 Synthetic Sealant as the final step.

As for the seats, I used the carpet cleaner, a brush with a bucket of water and then used a high powered Shop Vac to remove excess water. I then use a brush to even out the fiber/pile so that the material has a nice uniform look to it.

              I hope this helps!

              Tim
