Scratches come back after a few days? (Scratch X 2.0)

Hi,

I had a few scratches on my car (created when my mom tried to remove the dirts...) and then I bought the Scratch X 2.0. After using it (with hand) the scratches are no longer visable unless viewing from a tight angle (which is fine with me). However after two days, the scratches would come back once again and visable under normal light. What did I do wrong here?

-is it normal for them to come back so fast?
-Do I need to press harder when applying Scratch X 2.0?
-Do I need to apply longer? (I applied for like 1 min and then removed it)
-Do I need to cover it with some other materials?

(sorry I'm new to detailing, so more detailed instructions are preferred. Thanks a lot!)

Sounds like you need something more aggressive.

I would go with Ultimate compound the flow that up with ultimate polish.

Rhe reason why you are seeing the come back Is because you haven't removed them. While scratch x is a good product it might not be aggressive enough for the ones you are trying to tackle.

Can you post a photo of what you are trying to remove

It's really hard to take pictures... if too close the light reflection is too strong but if too far the scratches are not visable enough.

Evan: Is ultimate compound and ultimate polish as easy to use (by hand) as scratch X 2.0?
jay2d2: did you use other thing to cover/finish after you use ultimate compound?

Yes they are both very easy to use by hand

after your remove the scratches be sure to use a wax to protect the paint.

this one is an older one but hand polishing is all about proper technique

Do you have a recommended wax? So now I should do UC first, then UP, then wax? How much time do I need in between steps?
