    Re: Used Black Car Suggestions

I've had some issues with GC attracting dust but since I have moved on to UW, I am not experiencing much dust problems.
However, I will mentioned that I have started to clean my garage better. Not sure if it is the wax or my garage that was the issue.

GC is rather inexpensive, and it wouldn't hurt to have both GC and UW. I will also say that I do prefer the looks of GC tho.

So much for a "dry heat". No wonder my family left, I was born in TX.

You can do a test with the #26. My next project before winter sets in is the polish, NXT 2.0 (actually #21 SYN 2.0)then top with #26 carauba. Then use GC Carnauba QW after washes between waxing. There are many threads re: topping synthetics with #26.

I agree there are a zillion opinions and products here, but if you like detailing frequently, heck, buy a bottle of #26 and give it a shot as a topper and/or by itself when you're feeling adventurous.

      Either way, best of luck.

I'd recommend trying UW. It's a consumer product, so it's easy to get a hold of. It's extremely easy to apply and buff. It provides a great shine. For a daily driver, it's a terrific solution. I've tried many waxes (Megs and other brands), and an most impressed with UW. I'm guessing that given your temps and humidity, it would perform best for you. As for dust, I waxed my black Saab with UW last weekend, then took a two-day roadtrip with my son - the Saab shows a bit of dust, but not bad at all considering how many miles we put on driving country roads.

I guess I'm going to try UW first. Maybe today, if I ever get past the UC and UP stages. Lol! You don't know how a big a car really is until you start the correction and detail process. So far I've spent about 10 hours on wash, clay and UC. Finally finished it this morning and getting ready to start the UP. This thing looked like it lived at the automatic car wash but it's starting to shape up pretty nice. Not as good as I would like (do we ever get there?) but 200% better. So far the dual action power system has been a lot better than by hand, but I do miss the speed of my rotary. I was afraid to be too aggressive as this clear coat seems pretty soft. I do think a micro fiber pad for the D.A.P.S might help with stubborn defects over the red pad. Anyways, I'll let you know how the UW turns out.

            Re: Used Black Car Suggestions

I've seen no dusting differences between UW/NXT (synthetic) and Gold Class (carnauba/syn) wax. The weather where I am is much the same as where you are, Xtremespeed. No issues with the "wax trapping dust", as you say. Tree/bird droppings, yes, but then, that has nothing to do with one wax or another.

As a general side note beef, I don't know why so many bogus negative claims are made up about Gold Class across these forums? I guess it's the old saw about "carnauba vs synthetic", but GC Plus is a blend of both. Sometimes posters even praise #26 Hi-Tech Yellow Wax and dis Gold Class with reasons that would negate using #26. The truth is there's precious little difference between any of Meguiar's wax lines - they're all great products and all involve the same basic amount of work to maintain properly given the same car, same conditions, same weather, same abuse, etc. The real differences are in the look, or "cast", and the "feel" of a buff. Anything else sure seems like presumption, changes in weather, driving conditions, detailing routine, parking location, internet hype, popularity, etc...

...Anyway , for my money, Ultimate/NXT details kinda look like the black is trying to be silver or chrome, with hard and bright silver reflections or casting. Gold Class/26 details make the black look BLACK, with more of a soft golden studio light casting. It's a subtle difference, and both looks can be awesome in different ways, so it depends on the paint, the trim and wheels, and the owner's taste or whim. Stephan's stunning detail pic above looks like the silvery style to me, but then the photo exposure is a bit hot, and the white driveway and house in full sunlight make it hard to tell. Honestly, on mine, I think the Ultimate/NXT look would work very well, but I just prefer the Gold Class/26 look.

Good info. Thanks for sharing. I finished mine with UW yesterday, and it looks pretty good, but still a bit bright for my taste. I will probably try GC next time around. Your description sounds exactly like what I prefer, and that picture looks great. It does look like it was taken in the shade though with a darker area behind the camera which tends to look darker. I like it a lot though. Nice work.

Yeah, that shot was a bit shaded by the trees as well as passing thin clouds above the trees. There are some other full sun comparisons in my First Correction thread. The before shots were showing the remains of a wax possibly similar to UW/NXT, a synwax called "First Place Finish" the dealer gave me. It's now time for a second correction, and we've finally got a break in the pounding heat, but with constant rain

                  Re: Used Black Car Suggestions

I also have a black car, and when I bought it I simply did this:

Wash (gold class and some extra dish-wash detergent)
                  clay
                  UC
                  Black wax
                  Gold class paste wax

Because of the black wax and because I simply stick with carnauba waxes I was able to skip the UP step, but as dark wax has cleaners and I always apply 2 coats of wax, I used gold class for the second coat.
