is it a good idea to do this. will it absorb better?. and how would i wash it. put it in the washer then take it out ring it out then dryer. or what do you all suggest. same with microfibers?
Yes, I would wash it before use. Not only will it wash better. I feel safer using it because you really don't know how long it has been on the shelf. How much dust is in it.
yeah i bought the magnet from detailing.com so when it comes to the water magnet it will absorb some water in the washer. so ring it out then toss it in the dryer. can i wash it will microfibers? myabe some applicators? or on its own?
No, it won't ruin their performance. During the rinse cycle, put about a cup of distilled vinegar in. It will help them keep their absorbing properties. Don't believe me? See how they perform after washing a few times.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.
well. to be honest vinegar sounds risky. dont get me wrong it probably works great but. im not really down for trying that. thanks 4 the info. also do you have to wash applicator pads.....?!-!=) before you use them?

When your Water Magnets are more like water repellent towels you will give the vinegar a try.

thanks tuck. and why would they start becoming water repellant.? and how much vinigar do i add to the washing machine? do i just wash with the water magnet inside? and how to i get the vinigar smell/residue off of them?
Wow, what a great night. I get to agree with a bunch of knowledgeable folks.
I'm a bargain hunter, because I do this as a hobby. Some of the towels I buy are in plastic bags and some of those bags have "feel me holes" and usually the towel is dirty in that hole from everyone and their grandmother has handled the bag. Or the towel has set on the shelf for weeks/months and is dusty.
I've said this somewhere else, but I bought some blue towels I didn't think would amount to much. However a few washes and rinses with vinegar, they are now great.
Some towels you buy even have a tag that says launder before first use. (don't forget to carefully remove tags) Whether a microfiber towel or a waffle weave I launder them first.
Wash'm, rinse'm with vinegar and use'm. Can't go wrong.
