I have found that most of the window cleaners I have used (most of which are cheap and OTC) leave streaks and look bad. I now always use water and it works fine and doesn't leave streaks. Why does everybody pay for nice window cleaning products instead of just using water?

Re: Why not use water for windows?
Try Stoner's Invisible Glass. It's a really good product, and a lot of people here on MOL use it.Shane

Re: Why not use water for windows?
Pure water doesn't cut through film and contaminants as well as a glass cleaner would. The water would need an extra little oomph to help tackle the stubborn windows. Have a look at Megs D-Line Glass Cleaner. It's mostly water with very little concentrate. You don't need much, but you do need some.Alex C.

Re: Why not use water for windows?
Thats exactly what I mean though why buy Stoners when you can go to the faucet and get water?
I'm sure its a good product and better than using something like Windex, but I just don't see the point in spending money on something that water can take the place of? Does everybody other than me have incredibly dirty interior windows that water can't clean off?

Re: Why not use water for windows?
SC Clearly better has been working great for me, I will be switching over to Zep Professional the green color, it works great and $10 for a gallon makes 33 gallons of glass cleaner. But you can use distilled water for cleaning glass, use a Waffle Weave towel and a glass towel.

Let me pose a similar question to you. Why do you wash your car with soap and water? Why not save money, skip the soap, and just use water? Just a thought...Shane

Re: Why not use water for windows?
Its really a matter of water is ok for maintenance, but the dirtier things get, the better of a cleaner you need.
Though I would like to mention that using cheap OTC cleaners can easily discourage a person....2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue
