To the question "How often should I wax my vehicle?" there is no answer that fits everyone. There are so many factors involved: the wax you are using, how often the car is driven, whether it's garaged or left outside 24/7, the kinds of environmental stuff the car is exposed to, etc.

What kind of wax are you using and how often do you wax your vehicle?
I'm now using Gold Class Carnuaba and its very rarely waxed these days as life is getting busy. Maybe 1 or 2 times every 3 months? She sits outside 24/7 and driven at least 5 times a week. I'm in the Bay Area of California, so that should give you an idea of what the weather is like.

Should I hit my car with another coat of wax? I'm about to Quik Detail it with the spray that comes out of the Clay Kit and give it another coat in the next hour or so.

Alrighty then, I'm fairly new to the whole detail section of car care. I generally just wash and dry my car. When I do detail, I wash, clay, and wax with Gold Class. How good is this simple protection and how long does Gold Class wax last? Should i ditch this regiment for the one stated with the OP? The stuff I usually work with doesn't have Carnuaba in it, it was before it, but today I bought one with Carnauba and used that instead.

I want to hit the car with a second layer of GC with carnuaba, but how long should I wait? Is this a wasted effort, as I've seen in multiple posts that layering isn't recommended.

Another noobie question is for upcoming rainy season. In tropical country's rainy season, your car will always be wet with rain after you go out and sometimes dirty with muds and road grimes. I know that water sitting on my car will give water spots. But If I have to wipe the water from my car everytime after coming home is also not pratical. Worst part is sometimes, I cannot decide whether to just wipe the water OR give a full wash before wiping.

Hi, can i get any suggestion from anyone or from a Moderator? I know that my questions are naive and not important for people on this forum but your suggestions and answers will help me a lot. Thanks.

Just having some dust on the car doesnt remove your wax. You would just want to make sure that you are using a good car wash soap, like Gold Class, etc so you dont strip the wax off yourself.

You might want to try to find some Ult. Quick Wax or Synthetic Spray Wax to use when drying the car. Gives a nice boost to the current coat of wax.

Re: Your Daily Driver: A Simple Wash & Wax Regimen

    Hi All,

I live in a tropical country with lots of dusts in the summer and daily rain in the rainy season. So, even though I try to detail my car as much as I can, the beauty can only last 2-3 days at most. I have a dark-blue car and I use UC or M80 for polish and Gold Class Carnuaba or M21 2.0 for wax but my car becomes covered with dust and dirt after 2-3 days. So, I have no way but to wash it thoroughly again. The dust condition is so bad that you can see some dust (fine) covered on the paint just 5-10 minutes after you wash your car.

In these case, I'm not sure whether my waxes are still there after 2 weeks or not? So, could you guys please help me suggest my polish and wax regime? (Every 2 week or month?)

    Thanks,
If you're using our pads (W7xxx burgundy cutting, W8xxx yellow polishing, W9xxx black finishing) then the black pad is for applying wax, the yellow one is for paint cleaners like Ultimate Compound, and the burgundy pad we don't recommended for routine use on a DA buffer as it tends to be so aggressive that hazing the paint is common.

When it comes to a finishing polish like M205 or Ultimate Polish, you can use either the yellow or black pad, depending on how the paint responds, whether you're trying to remove very light defects, or just looking to refine the finish following a more substantial defect removal phase.

Dont have to, though the cleaner spots may start to stand out a little.

    Hi all,

I never bother with polishing my daily driver. So if I used Ultimate Compound on certain spots to remove imperfections like swirls and scratches, would I need to follow-up with Ultimate Polish afterwards?

It's pretty cool that this three year old article has received over 43,000 views. Since its publication Meguiar's has added a couple new products that one would want to consider for this regimen: e.g., Ultimate Wash & Wax, Ultimate Wash & Wax Anywhere, Gold Class Carnauba Plus, Ultimate wax. But the process itself is still good to go. Wash the car frequently, clay the paint once or twice a year, use a cleaner wax a few times a year to remove dirt and contamination that the clay bar can't touch, lay down a coat or two of sealant/wax, maintain the protection with Ultimate Quik Wax. The regimen will keep the car looking good year around. Simple as pie.

I prefer spray wax after a wash, saves a load of time. I also use UQD on an almost daily basis if the car isn't too heavily dusty
You may want to look at M135 if using that often.

I hose off my car first, to loosen any dirt on the surface, then i wash with Meguiar's soft gel car wash (man this product is good) then rinse and dry. I wash top areas first' then front and rear, then sides (top areas) and finally bottom areas of sides.
Finally i finish with Meguiar's NXT gen car wax. It's just a matter of waiting for the compliments during the day lol
