      Re: Getting into detailing

I bought mostly everything today at Walmart.

I got a lot, but they didn't have ColorX as well as a few other things..which leads to my question..

After all the suggestions I got, I planned to go with ColorX followed by NXT 2.0...but now I'm thinking maybe I can avoid that. The clay kit came with a sample of cleaner wax..is that similar to colorx? Could I use that sample followed by NXT 2.0 or is that a bad idea and I should go for ColorX?

      thanks

        Re: Getting into detailing

The regular cleaner/wax is a milder cleaner. It will work fine, just have to be sure you have enough of it... I would think there is enough for one coat on a car from that size bottle.

It's 4oz..I have no sense of how far that will go though, having never done any of this.

I think I'll hold off on the ColorX and chrome polisher..that's all walmart didn't have. I think this is enough to start with. Now I just need to buy all my microfibers and stuff

The Cleaner Wax will do great for you. Some of our members swear by the stuff. See, e.g., these two articles by Mosca:

sounds like it's worth giving the sample a go. It'll work nicely under nxt 2.0?

Absolutely. Give it a try and tell us how it goes. And share with us a pic or two. Good luck!

Yeah I always put three layers of wax on my truck. 1 coat Cleaner Wax and then 2 coats NXT 2.0. Good Luck!

I definitely will take pics once I get this stuff going.
It won't be for a bit though, I still have some stuff to order (towels and the like)

                      1 or 2 coats of NXT 2.0?
I'll be doing my first detail attempt soon...

                      I have quite the dilemma.
                      My car sits outside..under trees
I bought a cheapo cover for it..it was doing the job
                      then it rained
the covered had been on since it had arrived, right after simply washing the car..
after the rain I go outside and take it off..and apparently it's more of a mud-conjurer than cover..the car was pathetically covered in dirt everywhere..
I don't know what I should do..it seems like with rain, and the cover, my car will always be covered in nasty stuff..
should I not use the cover when it's wet? I can't imagine it looking worse without having had the cover..there'd just be some leaves on it..but I don't think I'd be embarassed to drive it..
I don't even know what to do...?

                        Wash it? Prune some trees?

I can also vouch for autodetailingsolutions.com. They shipped my Grit Guards as fast as humanly possible.

Nothing I can do about the trees.
Wash it everytime I leave the house...?

                              Or as you can.

No perfect solution under these conditions.

Maybe look at one of those portable canopies? The steel ones.

I don't think I'd have room for that..

I'm considering laying down a lot more money for an actual good quality cover instead of this pathetic cheap one...any worthy recommendations?
