Yes, that is primer and I found a couple of spots that are close to bare metal, but no rust so far. The stuff that looks like rust is either Lichen or Moss. There are some interesting 'growths' on her. I was anticipating a new paint job already, so none of the defects bother me. I crawled under it today and couldn't find any rust underneath either.

I think you asked about the interior yesterday, it needs to be cleaned (badly). The carpet is in good shape throughout, no cracks in the dash or door panels. I'll need to clean up the stereo install and recover the seats (I have neoprene in both of my trucks, the northwest is not a good place for cloth or leather) but that's about the end of it. Clean and straighten.

The odd looking thing on the left side of the 2nd pic is a spider web.....I'll get that with the vac, I hate spiders.

The pic posting is baffling me. After the soak, wash and rinse I used some #7 (try the least abrasive first right??) under the emblem to see what I could bring out. It shined up nicely. It appears to be a single stage paint, even the #7 removed a lot of red.

That's the shine it brought out.

This is the MF I used to apply the #7

This is the MF I used to apply the #26 on top of the #7. HEY, why didn't anyone tell me #27 smells like Bananas?????

I felt like I was in the Caribbean sipping Pina Coladas..........No wonder everyone loves this stuff.....Meguiars needs to include a Palm Tree in the package, then it would be PERFECT!!

Tomorrow the pressure washer is coming out and I'll attach the old growth on the rest of it. The Deep Crystal car wash works great, but I went through 4 mitts to do one side of the truck. It will be easier to blast the old growth off, then wash it.

Any suggestions on how to polish this paint would be great, there is orange peel, but no swirls that I can see. Some fine scratches, but they are all linear like he drove through some berry bushes or something. I'll get better pics when the sun is out. To overcast to see much today.
    Thanks

    Update on the Bronco

A lot of the green came off with a good rinse, then I soaped her up to see what's beneath.

    Not bad after a rinse.

Dried her off and it looks like she might make it.

    What do you think?

Looks like fun... looking forward to see what it looks like washed. What condition is the interior in? Pics?

Setec, if it's mechanically solid and the interior is in great shape I would think it's a pretty good buy.

On that Bronco, I'm gonna have to say no. Especially until anyone actually sees what is under all that grime.

You may be better off using a wash brush instead of a mitt for the first go around, maybe even the second.

Congrats, looks like a great project. I would probably take it to your local power wash. Just to blast of the green from sitting there for so long. Then bring it home and start the process of "meguiarising" it. Good luck. Cant wait to see your progress.

Wash it and see what comes off.

You never know if a product will work until you try it. It would be easy to reccommend a degreaser of sorts, but those could damage the paint. Body Solvent is safe, yet it still works.

Mix it up extra strong, that gunk isn't going to want to come off.

This would be a good vehicle to use some Detailer Body Solvent. Hopefully, that would remove some of the grime. If not, a clay bar would fill up quick!

I did a quick search for the body solvent. It says it's for removing petroleum based junk. This is purely organic. Not sure if it would work.

Tomorrow I'll see what Deep Crystal car wash will do, then go from there.

    Thanks for the suggestion,

Looks like a fun project, nothing like bringing back oxidized red! Too bad the guy didn't hose it off once a month along with the starting it once a week. Still sounds like a lot of money for a 17-yo truck, unless the anniversary edition makes it worth more.
