  • Results of my tests with #66 Quick Detailer - and pics!!! Blackbird

Hi, everyone......well, let's see if I did this right.......sorry, I'm old, and although I've been a computer user for many years, the whole forum "thing" is new to me, as is this process. But, again, thanks, Mike, for your great explanation about how to post pics....I think I've got it!!
This is my 2006 Acura RSX Type-S - before and after using #66 and my new PC (kinda scary at first........whew!!) As you can see, the "befores" are all swirls, and the "afters" are better - not perfect, but not bad for my first try.

    Before:
    [/img]

    EEEEWWWWWW!!!

Now, here are a few "Afters"........Mmmmmmm!!

While I'm no photographer, I think they show at least some improvement in the finish. I am pleased with the results.

Thanks to all who wrote to give advice........greatly appreciated. I also think I learned something about #66 - DON'T try to do the whole car while letting it dry. The strangest thing happened - I don't know if it was from letting it dry too long, or if I "splattered" some of the #66 because I was NOT careful enough about not lifting the PC's pad off the surface before it was stopped. I got these little white dots all over the hood and a couple of other places.........Man, were they wicked to remove!!!!!! Thought I was going to have to break out the #80.

Anyway, I've rambled on too long. Sorry........but, thanks for "listening".
    All best,
    Blackbird

Looks great good job. Gotta love red cars.
You left out licking the water off. Oh, wait a minute, that's my cat, not my car. Uh, I mean my cat licks himself dry. I don't lick my cat dry. Or my car. -PC.

You were close on the pictures, we fixed your code and we'll explain what we did to make them show up later...

          Re: Thanks, "Guys".......Blackbird

Thanks, everybody.........it was fun(?)..........Haaaaaa, just kidding!
Yeah, I just love red..........my Karate Sensei has a Black Mercedes, and as nice as he makes it look, he always drools over my "little deuce coupe".

I wish I could've taken better "after" pics of the same spots as the before pics, but the sun was on its way down, and I couldn't really seem to get the angle I wanted.

Mike, I'd be very interested in how you "corrected" my photos. (At your convenience, obviously). I will re-read the info presented on the site as well, and see if I can figure it out on my own as well.

Mike (or anyone else).........do you think the little white spots (they were like very tiny droplets) I had in certain areas were do to my lifting the machine (PC) off the car before it stopped (I thought I was very careful, though), or I was thinking maybe I got to an edge, and the spinning action of the machine just "threw" some of the #66 around. In any case, it scared me, 'cause it wouldn't buff off the finish until I switched to a cotton terry bonnet. That had just enough "bite" to remove the drops..........whew!! Scary!!!

Anyway, folks, thanks again for all your help. The 'Ol Blackbird must now head off to beddy bye.

          Will check in again tomorrow..........'Bird

Well, in all fairness he did say the afters weren't perfect and that this was his first time using the DA. Given the amount of swirls shown in the "before" pix I'd say he did an outstanding job and I think this is also a great testament to the power of #66! Blackbird, I think you did a terrific job on your car and you should be very pleased with your first effort. TrufflePig, I know you weren't being harsh or negative.....that's just not like you.

I was So NOT TRYING TO BE NEGATIVE.

for some it might come off or seem like i'm being negative and that i'm cutting him down for using the PC for the first time, but I am not doing that.

I feel the need for a brief explaination.

First off, like i said its looks ALOT BETTER!!! GOOD JOB!!!

Second, what looks like swirls may only be the picture etc...

                  cheers

                      Hey Blackbird!

You did a fantastic job on your car!!! I am really impressed!

The little white drops are just a little oops where the pad was lifted before it was turned off. No big deal!

And...we at Meguiar's Online really appreciate you taking the time to take before/after photos and then adding a write-up to the Forum! Thank you!

Nice job! The pictures were good too. Taking good car pictures is a lot harder than it looks, especially when you're trying to capture reflection shots. Angle of the sun, time of day, etc. are all factors. I still have trouble!

Aren't you glad you got the PC? It's a big time saver, and you can't duplicate the results by hand. So many people are afraid to use any kind of machine on their car for fear of causing swirls. But little do they know of the PC capabilities.

I think #80 has more cleaning ability than #66 since #66 is a cleaner/wax combination. But from my understanding #66 is the strongest of the cleaner waxes. Now I could be totally off base too!

Red looks like it is almost as fun to work on as blacK!
