    Re: GC or NXT

About 4 days a go i did a 3 hour detail, it consisted of: washing with GC car wash, claying, deep crst. paint cleaner, deep crst. polish, and nxt liquid wax. The results were impressive for a silver car, i am aware that i will never get as good of a look as black, but i want to get the best posssilbe with removing as little clearcoat as possible. The reason i havent been using a g 100 is because i have heard that power devices do indeed give you amazing results but they remove more clear coat then by hand, and of course you can damage your paint if you dont know how to use one. I think my information is correct please correct me if i have wrong info.

Re: GC or NXT vote or die(lol)

Have you tried GC too? I think that a lot of people are voting on a cretin product with out any experience with the other products.

I voted for the Gold Class liquid wax. I love that stuff.

Wow all that in a three hour detail! When I washed, clayed, #1, #2, and waxed (x2) it took about 12 hours and I spread it over over a few days.

An important point that you need to remember is that while you can base your decision on a voting system, it should ultimately come down to what looks best in YOUR eyes after doing some well-thought out experimentation.

For that matter, I voted for NXT Paste Wax, as it certainly has given me great results. In addition, the longevity and ease-of-use makes it a product that offers "no muss, no fuss".

My wife used to drive a platinum(silver) CTS. The prescription I found to make the finish have some depth was as follows: After prepping the surface I would lay down a coat of cleaner wax. Then i would follow this up with two thin layers of gc liquid. i wish I kept some pictures to show you. But the wife and I were very happy with the way it looked.

There is no way humanly possible to make your car "show car" perfect without a multi-step process that doesn't involve a machine for product application.

Besides that, why on earth are you so hung up on having us decide what wax you will use?

                      1. You can afford a BMW, so you can buy ALL FOUR products in your survey. They are what, less that $15 each?

                      2. You wax your car every week, so you can test all four waxes in one month and see which gives you the best results.

There are no "rules" about what is better or worse. The simple fact is that detailing involves too much emotion about what looks better. Anytime choices (or opinions) are formed on emotions, they become irrational. Otherwise I would like to know why I am still a Cubs fan? Because, the product I feel is best, much like my favorite baseball team, is based on a feeling.

So your poll is kind of like asking, who is your favorite baseball team, then using the data to figure your favorite team. Meg's understands this, hence why they have so many products out there. So try them and see what you like.

define what shine means to you and you will understand what I am saying.

What looks better to you, depth? gloss? richness? Warmth? Define your needs, if you know them. Again it is easier to dry different products and find which finish appeals to you more.

NXT is going to be glossier and provide more reflections.
Gold glass is going to be richer and on silver both should offer about the same depth.

Then take into consideration that this is how I view them and your interpertations are going to be way different then mine and you are on the right track.

The G100/PC 7242 is not going to remove enough clear coat to affect the durablity of the clear coat at all. You could buff every month with 80/pc for the life of your car and still probably not remove enough clear coat to measure it.

Also if you have deep swirls that are 3/1000's of the paints depth, regardless of the method you use, to get the paint perfect, you are going to have remove the top 3/1000's. By hand you are going to spend 12 hours, where as a PC will let you do the job in 2 hours and reap the benefits of using thier mirror glaze pro line products, which generally produce superior results to the consumer line.
