That is a tougher comparison as they are very similar in cut, but I have found that M80 will work a little better with the PC when compared to #66. With the rotary, the results are very similar. The M80 tends to leave a deeper, more rich looking finish. M66 tends to leave a brighter, more clear looking finish. It all depends on the look you are after.

I like using M66 with the rotary, topped with #20 Polymer Sealant. This combo gives a crisp, clear look on lighter colors!

But, one of my personal favorite combos is M80 with the rotary, #82 with the PC, topped with #21. This combo looks awesome on darker colors!!

If you left out the rotary what would your combo be for a black clearcoat?

Well, you could either use a DA Polisher or work by hand to clean the finish/remove swirls.

You could use a cleaner, such as ScratchX for hand, or #83 or #80 for work by machine.

Follow that with #21 or Gold Class wax, and you'll have great results.

          Hey,

I would basically do the same thing, though a couple of passes with #80 with the G100 may be needed in some cases.

          On black paint:

          G100, speed 5, and a W-8006 Polishing Pad + #80
          G100, speed 5, and a W-9006 Finishing Pad + #82
          G100, speed 3, and a W-9006 Finishing Pad + #21 x 2

Remove the #80 and #82 with a high quality MF towel. Remove the #21 with a MF bonnet over a clean W-8006 pad with the G100 set to speed 5. Make sure you use only one pad per product.

Using the above, I know you will love the finish!!!

            Thanks,
If I ever recieve my backing plate I may order some #80 and some #82 and give it a try. I'm not sure though since I'm pretty unhappy with the way the backordered backing plates are being handled.

              Hey,

I can understand your frustration. But I can assure you, this is very unusual. Hopefully, the backing issue will be rersolved for you very soon!

Hey Tim, like your black paint procedure! . Will try it out on mine. Waiting for the backing plate to get in before I order!! Tried #83 on hood spots by HAND, seemed to lessen alittle. Arm hurts now, can't wait for G-100

                  Hi Kelly,

The G100 will make a huge difference!!! Then after you have used it for a while, then I will get you into a rotary!!

Just about bought the Lowes 7336 but by the time I ordered the other stuff I'm at the G-100 price. Might as well get the best!!

Found a Dewalt rotary at a pawn shop yesterday . Have nightmares of putting a mark on my 85 Mustang.
Been watching Barret-Jackson? Fun to watch, though painful

I'll tell ya! I was kicking back with some guys and watching Barret - Jackson. Everytime I spotted a swirl, I instinctively pointed them out. It got annoying to the guys after awhile. But I'm sorry, I may be no detailing proffessional, but I'd expect a perfect finish on a car worth a quarter million dollars.

I like the way this thread keeps going and going. Anybody else got any more Colorx questions?

How do you know when you have worked in ColorX enough (with PC) to move on to the next section?

                            Hey,

If you are using the ColorX as a cleaner, you need to work the product until it is a very light residue. This usually takes a couple of minutes over a 2'x2' area. Just do not dry buff.

                            Cheers!
