Was anyone able to take a video of the class?

If so, maybe Meg's could host the file?

I really need to learn the proper way of working with the DAP and the liquids

As always, I would like to thank Mike and the rest of the crew for this amazin class. I had the chance to attend some of the classes before, but to be honest, I always thought that I won't learn anything new this time. Boy I was wrong! I learned two or three new things that I was not aware. Keep up with the good work!

              Mike Phillips!!!

It was an awesome awesome class Mike.

Just wanted to say thanks to Meguiar's and especially Mike Phillips for hosting such a wonderful organized event.

I really learned alot and can't wait to try out the some of the methods and stuff I got from this.

I can't express how Mike is. He is just so passionate and loving for what he does and for the company as a whole and it was just a great experience altogether.

*Just a sidenote for your memory Mike: I was the guy with the green Prelude with the orange peel that I don't want to live with.

              :THANKS again MIKE/Meguiars!!:

                Revelation

                Dear Mike and Online Members,

Trinity and I had a memorable day at Meguiar's with you.

Mike, you deserve all the thanks the attendees have slathered on you. From me and my family, gratitude for posting the pictures right away.

To the class members, thank you for welcoming Trinity to the event. I'm only sorry we didn't get the chance to meet more of you.

                The Prize

By staying 'till the end I had the good fortune of some one-on-one demo time with Mike and the high speed rotary buffer. After getting none-too-shabby results with the dual-action polisher, he brought out the heavy equipment to test the "restorability" of the finish. In seconds with the maroon cutting pad and #84 we could see a shine lurking---as I have on this forum---below the haze of product. This skillfully executed step confirmed that we weren't dealing with some unusual, hazy paint defect below the clear coat.

That deceptively simple demonstration is what I've been waiting for: a results comparison on my own car's finish, done by a pro. I am familiar with the capability of the DA polisher, and thanks to Mike's skillful training I see what I was missing.
My real testament, however, is about being blinded by the holy light of the rotary buffer.

OK, it's time to re-read those threads about which one to buy and why. And, to overcome the fear.

Yours for more training days like that one,

                Brian & Trinity

the pics don't show the whole story.

that honda looked like it had flat black paint with no clear before the class.

after the class it had an incredible shine and everyone commented that it was painted with a black containing gold flake.

the car sparkled from both the wax and the gold metallic in the paint.

i bought a ton of stuff but haven't received it yet. i'm not looking forward to the water spot removal work!

                    ShammyD,

In my opinion, definately start with the DA first.. It in no way can harm your paint. Definately get the hang of it first, before trying a rotary, which can do damage.

You will also use the DA much more often than a rotary, so you may be able to borrow, or whatever a rotary for the big fix-ups. The DA will be a long time friend after the fix.

Just to chime in on this...

First I did try the dual action polisher on his hood with some M83 and while it did improve the finish, it wasn't fast enough or effective enough.

At this point I told ShammyD, that either the rotary buffer could fix the paint by restoring gloss and clarity or nothing could fix it and that a quick test spot using the rotary buffer would indicate this.

That's when I grabbed one of our rotary buffers with a W-7006 foam cutting pad and some M84 and buffed out a little test spot on the hood. In about 1/10 of the time, the rotary did a ton more work/ it restored clarity and gloss dramatically over what the dual action polisher achieved.

This is why I often refer people to this thread and state that the dual action polisher while a great tool, can never replace a rotary buffer.

We happened to snag a couple of photos...

                        Shammy's VW,

The Driver's side was buffed with M84 using a W-7006 foam cutting pad on a rotary buffer. Notice the increase in clarity, gloss and reflectivity.

While the M83/G100 combo was improving the finish and a person could continue with this process and achieve dramatic results with enough time and applications, the rotary buffer produced these results very quickly.

The point is, there is time and place for every product and tool, learning when to choose one product or tool over another comes with experience and skill.

                          Hello Mike,

I want to thank you for allowing me to come last Saturday to the clinic you held. Not only did i learn alot about claying and the DA buffer and paint care i also got to experience what a TOP notch Co. Meguiar's is and what a asset you are to them.

Thanks again and sorry for the late reply.

                            My Quest for Shine

Thank you for posting the pictures of my VW, Mike. They, along with your customarily thorough explanation, illustrate our test well.

I plan to do the rest of the hood with my DA polisher and #83 DACP. (I have #80 and will see if it can improve upon my results once I get the right assortment of pads.) I will pass along my test results and experience for all.
