    Mike,

At lunch time I called up Pal and spoke to Jchetty. Sounds like the seminar was doing well despite the rain. Unfortunately , J did not bring his camera so I sure hope someone there was able to take photos.

Pictures won't do justice to the wealth of information we got from the seminar. It's more about those memories etched into your mind knowing inside how spectacular today was. I am so happy I was able to go, learned about the TONS of products Meguiars has and was finally led to #6 for my aluminum alloys with clearcoat by Rod.

Just an absolutely wonderful experience, now that I know what I SHOULD buy for my car. I'll be sure to turn heads with my diamond-like sparkle shine.....

Thanks again guys.... for today's experience.....

had an awesome time and learned lots of good stuff!

finally not scared to death of a buffer
just gotta scrounge up and save up to buy a DA buffer now

came home with some goodies too...couldnt leave without at least buying something after that class. lol....got some Synthetic Sealant #21 to give a test out in comparison to my Zaino that i normally use, then a gallon of Swirl Free Polish #82. plus a few catalogs for future reference.
i'm ready to roll to remove all the swirls from my 85 f-150 and 00 Harley Truck! well...after i buy a DA.

definately worth the 3 hour drive that should have only taken two hours, but the turnpike back home south was a mess in that monsoon. saw FOUR multi-car accidents between exit 10 down to exit 2.

didnt get any pics, but learned a ton of new stuff.
Thanks Rod and everybody else who made this happen

Many thanks to Rod- you were a great help.
And thanks to Mark for being such a generous and helpful host.
Now I'm ready to make my C6 POP!

How about an intermediate level class next year?

Tell us about the hood Mark had set up. What color was it? Did anyone practice the PC or a rotary on it?

Mark told me he plans to host another seminar in the summer. Why don't you guys set up a poll like I did last year outlining which levels/topics of polishing you'd like to see most covered, vote on it and see if Rod will cater to whatever it is: more intermediate, advanced, a good blend, etc.

i was thinking the same thing

be cool to have an intro level class that was like today, cover all the basics and then get into using buffers, then have an intermediate class for people who attended prior, and had the basics of detailing down pretty well (washing, claying, products, etc.) and focused more on buffing techniques, combinations of products, etc

o yeah...i have one suggestion for a new product that i forgot to mention.
how about a meguiars car air freshener that had the "Final Inspection" quick detailer scent that stuff smells friggin good! lol

here's my insanely long thread over at NHTOC about the detailing clinic, since none of those bums made it out today..lol.. if anybody felt like reading it all here's the link

if anybody has some tips for the meguiars or DA (or links to where to get a DA at a good price ) please post up.
                Josh,

These guys have pretty decent prices on chemicals, as well as the DA polisher. You could also get a Porter Cable 7424, but I think the warranty is only 1 year. Meguiars G-100 carries a lifetime warranty.

Are you saying that the full 25 didn't show? I was busy at work and stuff late in the week and forgot to get in touch with you guys to meet up before or after for a little alumni reunion...but it sounds like it wasn't full?

I completely forgot my thank you's to Mark for letting us have the run of his shop for a day, and for the food!
And to Rod for: 1) Answering any and all of our questions, and doing so in layman's terms. 2) Keeping our interest/spirits up despite the piss-poor weather. 3) Sharing tips and tricks of the trade that I for one, will put to use on the next detail.

i agree. I would definately of had no problems at all paying a small fee to sign up. its definately worth it for all the info and hands-on learning. plus free breakfast and lunch. and would stop people from not showing, or posting that they cant go for a refund. then if they dont tell anybody and dont show, the class can split their deposit and buy some goodies lol

i went from #11 on the standby list down to #1, and i sat there as #1 on the standby list up until at least 1:30 am when i went to bed friday night. woke up at 6:30 saturday and i was moved to #25 on the go-list at the very last minute.

i think 5 people didnt show. would have been nice if they had told somebody so the standby people could have went. i know i was waiting anxiously for the list to drop down so i could go.

anyway, thanks snappy for that link. for another 60 bucks i think i'm gonna get the 2nd DA package from Meguiars. the one with the DA, 3pads, MF bonnet, clay, and some NXT stuff so i can give it a shot, plus the duffel bag to keep it in

I'm much appreciative of Rod Kraft for the time he invested in sharing his wealth of knowledge with the group. I've had a DeWalt 849 for over a year and a half, still brand new in the box; I didn't feel comfortable using it. Rod's tips made trying his Makita on the "sacrificial" scrap Ford Contour hood made available to the group much easier than I imagined. Many thanks to Mark Woloshin at PAL automotive for hosting the event!

I wanted to say I had a great time! It was nice to know that everyone in the room had the same passion! Rod Kraft did a great job explaining all of the products meguiars offered, how to proceed with which products for which situation. He encouraged everyone to participate by asking questions, he answered plenty of personal questions including evaluations on many of the customers cars who had paint issues. Very down to earth guy.

I love how Meguiars promotes education - this comes back to us wanting to use more of Meguiars products just because we know that the support will be there when we need it. Thanks Meguiars!

This was my first time using a rotary, and like everyone else I will now take mine out of it's box and no longer be afraid of it.

Thanks Mark Woloshin for your help. Myself, New and Wai Jung Chan all chipped in for $425 worth of detailing supplies.

                              GOTTA LOVE THAT 21!

I've attached some pictures below. I didn't get as many pictures as I wanted but I was LEARNING! Thanks again...

                              Rear of PAL Automotive:

Couldn't stand the rain..but it didn't stop us!

                              That TRUCK! It's INSANE!

Mark allowed Rod to work on his wife's Ford minivan...He explained the thickness of paint, wetsanding, swirls, swirl removal here:

                              My turn at the Rotary!

Here we were inside on the junk Ford Contour hood: Rod is demonstrating how to burn paint while a volunteer used the temperature gun to check the temp. It reached 190 degrees with the wool pad at 3000rpm! WOW!

Others taking a chance at burning the paint:

Last Touch - and clay bar on someone's Ford Truck: We then used 21 on the car - he had some acid rain issues - not sure if it was cured but that polymer sealant is no joke! Great stuff:

That's it - I'll leave you off with this:

I had an execellent time! Thanks again to those who made this happen and to those who fought the rain to attend the class!!!
