i think it would be cool if there was a tv show where you take someone's car that has a less than perfect and show the complete makeover detail process..... kinda like those TLC tv shows where they make over people's houses while theyre gone.... it would be a good way to educate the general public on how to do proper car wash technics and what should never be done to a car's finish that normal people might not know about.... it can also show how simple it is to upkeep a cars finish when they first get it.... and show them the meguiar's 5 step process... etc... and maybe even some pdr guys can be in it to fix dents to make the finished product even more dramatic....

Maybe Meguiar's could contact a major network and arange a special. They could have some people from Meguiar's and of cource Mike do an extreme makeover.
Obviously if ithe show is good the network will benefit because people will watch it and the Network won't have to pay to develop it. At the same time, Meguiar's can make themselves look good and use Meguiar's Products, and it would also benefit the people who watch it. Even if each viewer learns just one thing such as use soap not dish detergent... it was worth it for that viewer.
I really think Meguiar's should go about doing this. Sure they will have to pay to detail a car, pay to tape it, and have several people paid to be on the show and make it fun and interesting, but overall, it should be doable. I mean Meguiar's has always been a great company and they do sponsor some things. Please run this by someone with authority. I would definatly run the special.
Maybe Meguiar's could team up with an existing show like HorsePower TV or something.

I really do have a passion for detailing cars and showing other people how to do it right the first time, in fact I'll upload the introduction to my book this week and it pretty much tells the story.
By the way, www.showcargarage.com is now up again, (there is just a place holder on the site right now), and this week a brand new discussion forum will be installed.

Originally posted by Mike Phillips While I would love to do this as it is my passion, I don't think Meguiar's would ever use me on the show, the job would probably go to someone else as there are a lot of talented people here at Meguiar's.
You said that has been one of your life long ambitions (dreams); I think you should actively pursue this. We think it would be awesome to have a special where you really show the viewers how to detail a car and at the same time stay away from common mistakes such as using shinny, slippery dressing on leather and dish soap.
Please ask someone with authority or someone who can talk to authority and pressure Meguiar's to team up with another TV Show for a special. Any show would be stupid to refuse considering they would have a special show with special guests.
As for your forum, I am glad to hear it is coming along well and will be up in a week. Just curious why it takes so much time though not that I am complaining or anything.
Also, will all of your old posts carry over? What about the members?
Is there a converter?
If there is not a members converter, perhaps it might be possible to create a member and then from there use that member as a template and write a program to export/import members. I am assuming both forums use MD5 to store the passwords. If that is the case, there would be no need to decrypt them (nearly impossible).
All we would have to do is "SELECT * FROM TABLE" to an array, reformat the array to vB spects and then make a INSERT INTO TABLE the array of data.
It should be simple to carry the members over.

I just wanted to chime in here. I've been working on this idea for the past 2 years now, and I currently have 4 How-To's shot from beginning to end of various cars including a 1960 Corvette, and a 2005 Lotus Elise.
They are being edited for DVD release and for local public access--simply as information dissemination. It would be great to have someone like TLC pick up my videos, but that'll be down the road.
At this point, I've been swamped with work, and have delayed mentioning their existence--but since it's been asked, I figured I might as well let you know the concept is being developed!
