        Here's my list,

1960, Go-Cart, At twelve years old, I considered my go-cart was more like a race car than a regular car. I think that's probably where I really learned how to speed. Hey, I never got any speeding ticket. However, I was stopped by the NJ State Police for riding on the streets. Well, I wasn't actually stopped by the cop. It was just that my baseball hat flew off because I was going so fast when I saw him. I couldn't stop to get my hat or I'd be caught for sure. So I drove on home a few blocks away. I parked my go-cart and walked in the house like nothing had happened. A few minutes later. Yep, you guessed it. That State Trooper was knocking on our door and yes he had my baseball cap in his hand. When I look back, I guess that was really the first time I was ever caught for speeding. Oh, those were the days.

1959 Pontiac Catalina, this was my first car, when I got my drivers license in 1965. Those were the days when you could drain your oil, then add five quarts of kerosene, run the engine for a few minutes and then drain the dirty kerosene. Then add five quarts of fresh 30 weight oil. That was how you could easiler keep your engine clean. I guess you could say that was like detailing the internal parts of your engine.

1965 Buick Skylark, This wasn't your fathers Buick. This was one of the muscle cars of the day with a four speed trans and high performance clutch. Hey, I still can remember how hard that clutch petal was to engage. It was like pressing on a pedal made of concrete. Anywho, this car also had a 400+ cubic inch motor with over 300 HP. And yes, I very quickly found out how expensive tires cost back in those days. I think I burned the rubber off of the first set of rear tires in about two months. Added a few extra points to my drivers license record too.

1967 Buick Opel, this wasn't the GT model but it was a lot less expensive to operate than that Buick. The quality wasn't there as I remember some of the little things that went wrong as the car was still in warranty. Since I was commuting from NJ to CT it was good basic transportation. Hey, at least it still had a four speed trans. And I still got caught for doing 84 mph on the NJ Turnpike.

1969 Pontiac GTO, Ah, what can you say about the Old Goat. Well, if you were lucky enough to actually own one, you know that the engine for some reason wanted to eat spark plugs like candy. I still don't understand why, but unless the spark plugs were changed every five thousand miles the car just didn't want to run right. Since I put over 50,000 miles on that GTO in a couple of years, I could probably change those plugs blindfolded. Also, since the GTO didn't have air conditioning, I convinced my wife that we needed a car with air. Yes believe it or not, those were the days when most cars did not have air conditioning. At the time, air was considered a true luxury option. Not standard like in todays cars. That is how I got my Corvette, the car that I still own some thirty three years later. Oh, and I still have the same wife too.

1969 Corvette Stingray, Imagine having a Corvette as your only family car. I mean drive it everywhere. Do the supermarket shopping, go on vacation. The works. My 69' Corvette is a White Coupe, with Auto Trans, a/c, 300 hp 350 ci. It's the one with t-tops and the rear window comes out too. It is all original and never been restored. I like the idea of knowing that the only wrenches that were turned on my Corvette are those at the factory, when it was built on 12/7/68 and all of the work I have done on my own. I have replaced mufflers, brakes, shocks, etc. and the list goes on. I began using my Corvette less and less as the family car when we purchased our new Nova in 1974. By 1980, its use was very limited as I began to realize that I would never sell it. Since it was always kept in my garage it really did'nt see too much bad weather, except for those first few years. Now it's got NJ QQ Historic license tags. It is really a somewhat strange feeling when you get in a car and realized that it's the same car the you have driven for more than thirty years. I mean, Richard Nixon was President the first time I drove my Corvette. That really was a long time ago. Oh, one other note. My Corvette was the last vehicle I drove on the last day of 1999 and the first vehicle I drove on the first day of 2000. I guess you could say I drove my Corvette from one millennium into another.

1974 Chevy Nova, What can be said about a Nova.

1977 Chevy Nova, same as above

1981 Olds Cutlass, All I remember is that GM was still trying to figure out how to build a reliable V-6 motor.

        1986 Olds Cutlass, with V-8

1989 Chevy Blazer, Bought this Blazer as a result of my needs while establishing my own mobile detailing business. I don't think too many people were impressed with me working out of the trunk of my family car. It was time to move up.

        1998 Olds Cutlass, Family car.
        2001 Chevy Blazer, Work vehicle.

        Currently own,
        1969 Corvette Stingray
        1998 Olds Cutlass
        2001 Chevy Blazer

Is it too late to reply to this thing??? Im 23, and Ive been a car nut for as long as I can remeber. I was going to drag races and car shows with my dad before I was old enough to walk, he and I have built a 10 second street legal '67 camaro, and right now we just finished up a 460ci pro street '79 vette.

first car- 85 4door cavalier, hideous brown color, but I got a good shine out of it. No AC, rust in the door jambs, and broken AM radio.... But it ran great and it was free. It was an auto though, and I promised myself I'd never own another auto again, its just too boring.... and pedestrian. Drove it for a year and sold it for $1500 back in '96, I was about 17 at the time.

For a pos fwd car, it was actually fun. the 135 tires combinde with track bar rear suspension would actualy drift around corners naturally at high speeds (which was about 60 for this car).

next car- 1992 saturn SC- 5speed this time. I wanted to do some import dragging, the saturn was light and cheap ($2700 -half of list at the time) but had 132k on the clock, did not run and was beat. I massaged it back to health, got it looking good and startd drag racing. with only I/E mods I got the times down to consitstant 16.0's.... not bad for a worn out car rated at 17.5 by C&D.

In the end, the plastic innards of the dash became brittle and creaking, the odometer stopped turnning at 178k miles, and it was burning a quart of oil a week. An SUV hit my in the back at a red light at 40mph, shortened the car about a foot and pushed it into the middle of the intersection.... and I drove it for a week that way untill I got almost 6k from the insurance. I loved that car, may it RIP.

97 Miata was next in 2001. most wonderful little car ever made. 132k of hard driving (AND careful maint.) and still absoluteley beautiful.

2003 ranger was next. I got a new job, and wanted a new truck. I worked for ford at the time so I took advantage of my discout the last day I worked there, still have it and the miata.

this year I got the bike itch. Bought my 1992 Yamaha Seca II for $900. Cheap and loads of fun. No power by modern sportbike standards, but I can still get the front wheel up, and it corners great. I dont care about going 200 mph, so its the perfect bike for me, for now.
                    '97 Pearl black Custom Miata
                    '06 Scion xB
'92 Yamaha Seca II Piped & Jetted

                      44

I've owned not a lot of cars since I use to live in Hong Kong and public transportation was the way to go.

1980 Corolla- Got smushed by a dump truck. Very reliable and I even had the optional A/C. After I got it fixed and sold it, I didn't see the need and was car-less for the rest of my years in Hong Kong.

1995 Camry LE I4- Still have it. I will dearly miss it when I eventually sell it. It has been with me ever since I moved to NJ and I remember it like yesterday when I bought it home brand spanking new and did my first wax using EageOne. And the time my younger son was brought home. Unfortunately, there was a couple years where I slacked off and didn't wax nor do anything to it and it has become a beater. But engine still runs strong.

2004 Sienna XLE Limited- The most luxurious vehicle I've come to own and I know this time around to take care of it seriously.

Hoping to own in the near future:

Camry XLE V6 or SE V6
Accord EX-L V6 or Accord Hybrid
                      ES330
2005 3rd-Gen Avalon Limited or Touring

                      Merry Christmas!

I'm currently lusting after the new GTO, I know some people don't like the looks, but what a ride. And with the change to 400 hp this year and bigger brakes, it's going to be one bad 2 door.
                          I want 4" Softbuff pads!

Gbackus, I highly recommend the GTO! I am very happy with it! Performance is excellent, and it pulls harder from a stop than my WS6 TA did! I'm very happy with the performance of the '04, but still, the thought of 400HP has me drooling! 0-60 times are 4.6 seconds for the A4 and 4.8 for the M6. Where else can you get that kind of performance for the price? The '05 comes with hood scoops standard too!

The ride and handling are excellent too. The interior is the best I have seen in an American car.

Also, the GTO looks better in person than it does in magazines. The sleeper look grows on you after awhile too. The cops don't pay too much attention to me now LOL!

                                This is a fun topic.

Let's see. First car was in 1976.

                                68 Plymouth Fury III
                                72 Ford LTD
                                73 Buick Riviera
                                76 Chevy C15 PU
                                81 Datsun 4x4 PU
                                75 Chevy Blazer
                                84 Jeep Scrambler (bought new)
86 Jeep Commanche PU (bought new)
                                82 Chevy Silverado C1500 PU
89 Chevy S-10 PU (bought new)
                                98 Dodge Ram 1500 QC
01 Dodge Dakota R/T (bought new)
04 Jeep Grand Cherokee (bought new, still have, wife's)
04 Chevy Colorado Z71 4x4 (bought new, still have)

I didn't list any of my wife's previous vehicles.

I guess that's not too bad unless you include the 13-14 or so motorcycles I had too.
