(At this pont, 1986, I gave up the bohemian writer's life and got a real job, selling cars. What I owned became not so important as what I could cadge to drive for a while, which included a Porsche 911 Carerra, Mazda RX7 'vert, Lincoln LSC for a long term demo, Merkur Scorpio demo, Mazda 929, Lincoln Town Car demo... then came the dark years in the early '90s, Luminas and S10 Blazers.)
    Married, '91...
    '91 Chev Corsica sdn
    '94 Chev Corsica sdn
(During the '90s, still took home as many interesting used cars as I could, including my first drive in a Miata, some BMWs, a Mercedes diesel, a Camaro Z28SS, a C5 Vette, but mostly Blazers, Malibus, Impalas... yawn.)
    '97 Mazda Miata #1
    '97 Mazda Miata #2 (#1 was totalled)
    '01 Chev Malibu sdn

The Miatas have been my revival as car crazy. They've resucitated my love of driving, polishing, and wrenching!

It's ALL good. All motorsports come from the same part of the heart, whether you're drifting or autoxing or saving classic muscle or modding bleeding edge customized Hyundais or building custom choppers or polishing your Corsica.

    Next!

As the light changed from red to green to yellow and back to red again, I sat there thinking about life. Was it nothing more than a bunch of honking and yelling? Sometimes it seemed that way.

Wow, you all have owned a lot of cars.

              1. 1991 Ford Explorer, or should I say, Exploder! This was one of the first 200 ever made, the SUV that started the SUV explosion, and ironically enough, it came to its end when the motor went BOOM!
              2. 1991 BMW 318i- bought in Arizona- drove it all the way back to Kansas City. Slapped a coat of Megs. cleaner wax on it and Black Magic tire spray. Wow, it sure looked good. .
              3. 1992 BMW 325i- my current car and garage queen. Paint is flawless and it is pretty heavily modified.
              4. 1992 Dodge Stealth R/T. My tester vehicle and beater.

Good Lord some of you have owned a lot of cars. I'm 30 and so far all I've had is a '90 Full size Bronco which is being restored so to say, a 1996 Impala SS and a '01 F-150.
                The job is never finished.

                  I'm 28. Here's my very short list:

1983 Chevrolet Celebrity that I "shared" with my older sister when we were in High School. Basically, I could drive it early in the mornings before she was awake. Otherwise, it was pretty much her car.

1987 Chevrolet Celebrity that was handed down to me while I was in college so that I would be able to drive to my Reserve weekends. This car was always there when I needed it. Not the most exciting ride, but I washed and waxed it often (with liquid Simoniz) and it never let me down.

1987 Chevrolet Corvette with a 4+3 and the Z51 package. This is the first car I ever bought. I saved and saved to buy it, and it was my daily driver for several years. I started using Meguiar's Cleaner/Wax on this car, and then moved on to the two-step Gold Class products. When I sold this car, I was glad to move on as it was a real time-consumer, but it served me well for 4 years and was a ton of fun on nice days. Hopefully it won't be my last Corvette.

1995 Nissan 200SX which my wife bought before we were married. This car is pretty reliable, though the stuff that does break has been crazily expensive to replace. This car is now the beater. I use anything and everything on it from MPPP to #16 to #26 to Zaino to Klasse...

1997 Buick Regal GS which replaced the Nissan as my wife's daily driver. This car is completely rattle free at 100k miles, even when it is 15 degrees F out. It is smooth and comfy, seats and rides a bit on the plush side, but she really likes it, and I really like the 280 lb-ft of torque on tap in the 3000's. This car had been getting MPPP until I tossed some NXT on it a week ago in excitement.

2002 Oldsmobile Aurora 4.0 which replaced the Corvette. This is the first new car I have ever bought, and the first car I had bought that wasn't from the 1980's. I love practically everything about this car. The power, the style, the interior, the features, the solid structure, the competently sporty handling that is still comfortable on rough pavement, the exhaust note, the exhaust note, the exhaust note... This car gets pampered. Currently it has Blackfire and #16, but I'm looking forward to trying NXT on it in the spring. It also gets liberal applications of Final Detail applied with the incredible DF Towel...

Between the Regal, the Aurora, and having a little beater, we are set for cars for a while to come. But I do hope that before I'm too old (man, I'm almost 30!) we'll find room for maybe a 1995 ZR-1 or a 1996 Grand Sport or something...

27 here... my list is short as well...

1990 Geo Prizm - Red (Best vehicle I've ever owned... replaced a head gasket at 148K miles... that was the ONLY maintenance issue I ever had with it)... Traded at 167K miles...

1997 Chevrolet Blazer LT (Worst decision of my life... you all don't want to read about the laundry list of problems....) I owned it for four months and took a beating on the trade....

1998 Explorer XLT - GREAT vehicle. I really enjoyed driving it and it suited my tastes well. Had every option available...

2001 F-150 King Ranch SuperCrew - The love of my life (my wife isn't reading over my shoulder)... I'm currently the President of the International King Ranch Ford Truck Owners Club (KROC for short). We have nearly 100 members in 4 countries. Needless to say, I'm a bit obscessive compulsive. HA!

                    Like I said, it's a short list...

I'm just a darn kid that holds onto his cars for a long time

                            1. 1977 Chevy Caprice 2 Door (too darn big to call a 'coupe')
                            2. 1983 Monte Carlo - The Beast. T-Tops, velour interior, every option. Learned to work on the engine and the paint with this one. Got me 21 points in 18 months..I was a crazy kid.
                            3. 1983 Olds Cutlass - The Gutless Cutlass
                            4. 1987 Monte Carlo - Slower than dirt, and about as ugly
                            5. 1992 Saturn SL2 - (almost too embarrased to mention)
                            6. 1998 Grand Prix - Current car and still my favorite.
