    I own 7 vehicles; 46 dodge, 57 chevy, 64 buick, 88 ford F250, 94 cadillac, 98 honda, 98 GMC.

Three of those take premium gas. I bust my butt to bring home a decent pay check to fill up and cruise. Cars are in my blood. I love the way they look smell sound. If gas were $10.00 a gallon I don't think I would change anything.

G-d bless you, between trying to pay for the gas I need to get to work, and mind you, I drive a six cylinder car, with a 1-bbl Carburetor, and only commute 20 miles round trip, and keeping fuel in the Wife's car, paying rent, etc, I'm barely making it as things stand now. Most of the folks I know are not in much better shape, and it seems that at least in so far as I'm concerned, and those I know are concerned, it won't take much more in the way of price increases, to stop our 'Car Show/Cruise Night' activity altogether.

I would say that if gasoline is your big fixed expense, then you are either doing something extrememly right, or extremely wrong!

We probably spend as much on gasoline in a month as we do on phone bills.

I came close to buying a 72 eldorado convertable recently.

Thats funny I never noticed I had a car from almost every decade in the last 50 -60 years.

I think my wife wants me to work on a year 2000+ before I get anything from the 70s.

When one is already just managing to stay ahead of those fixed expenses, one cannot afford so-called spikes, nails, or even small brads in gasoline prices. Unfortunately it's going to get worse, and like it or not, it will further impact what is not part of my necessary expense items.

I look at it this way. If you can afford to own more than one car, you should be able to afford the gas. Owning a single car in and of itself is a luxury.

prices are 3.07 for the cheap stuff up towards almost 3.25 or so. This is in Washington.

I drive a lot for school, another school, and work... Nothing I can do about it. No regrets on a 20 mpg car either, I love it.

We're now around $2.80-$2.90/gal for those who can use Regular grade gasoline, and upwards of $3.25/gal for Premium. Like it or not, I won't be going to too many Cruise Nights, if prices stay where they are now, or worse yet, go higher.

Bad analogy. Some of use have scraped along to do what we've done, and now, we're barely hanging on, thanks to higher everything, except for income.

Wow, old thread. Looking back at some of the gas prices, I wish they were at that now.

I sold the truck that needed premium but the Liberty gets about the same mileage, just cheaper gas. I'd hate to have to make the jump to a little car.

I'm sure, depending on how old the prices were that you read, we all wish gasoline prices would come down out of looney tune land, to at least where they were when this thread started, but I doubt that's going to ever happen. Hey, when you can get $3.00-$4.00/gal for gasoline, why even think about dropping the price, heck, they'll jack it up even higher, and then someone will tell us how we shouldn't complain, and how it's either been higher somewhere else for years, or how much higher it is somewhere else.

I can't imagine spending $35.00 for 10 gallons of fuel was much like fun at all. I know it's unfathomable to some, but after an expense like that, for at least some of us, there isn't anything left for little necessities, like food, certainly not Vendor food at an event, even at if the event is a Cruise Night. Oh well, this is like discussing the weather, might make you feel better to say whatever it is you've said, but it doesn't change anything.
