As the light changed from red to green to yellow and back to red again, I sat there thinking about life. Was it nothing more than a bunch of honking and yelling? Sometimes it seemed that way. -
Autocrossing, it is your day enjoy it. Just be careful. Then you can ask for new tires as a late fathers day gift. -

I went autocrossing, and had fun. I ran a 43.1xx my first run, and got down to 42.2xx before lunch. After lunch I lowered the tire pressure a little bit and got slower, so I bumped it back up to 35 and finished with a 41.5xx and a 41.11x. Took second place in SM2 (out of 2 cars).
I forgot how much fun it was!

I watched the US Open at Pinehurst #2 on TV today. I had a good Father's Day for the most part, except for a pinched nerve in my back that flared up Saturday morning.
Would have been nice to have tickets to the Open though, as Pinehurst is only 100 miles from here.r. b.Comment

AutoX is the best thing since peanut butter.
I used to race 3 times a month in the CSP-X (C Street Prepared, eXpert) class back in New Orleans for the Delta Region SCCA.
My 85 RX-7 was built just for autoX and road race. Even on some worn Azenis, against Miatas with R-Compounds, it would still be a 2-3 second difference.
I absolutely LOVE auto X, and have finally found a girlfriend that loves it more than I do! I can't wait for the next one! Her and I are soooo competitive, that we're gonna race in the same class, in HER car, and loser buys dinner at the most expensive restaurant in Jacksonville. (I told her I like my steaks as rare as possible, and the wine to have had time to breathe, before bringing it to the table... I got punched in the arm for that. )

Some of those "built to purpose" cars are so cool! There's a guy in our region with a TR-6 5.0 conversion; no interior, no doors, no lights, just a shell with a drivetrain. He was running in the mid-34s (recall I was around 41). We have a CSP-X national competitor (9th last year), Chris Januscz; his Civic was high 37s/low38s.

What kind of car are you running to be in SM2?
Obviously you have a 2-seater, like a CRX, or DelSol, or soemthing similar.... with either a motor swap and/or a turbo kit with FMIC....
I'm interested to hear your setup.

'97 Miata, with JR supercharger, coilovers, SSR Comps & Bridgestone S03s, and some other stuff.
I'm no pro, I go once or twice a year autox and once a year "driver instruction" track days. But that keeps the speed driving where it's supposed to be, off the streets.
