as we all have seen Meguiar's products are everywhere we shop mostly the consumer line but i have seen some of the other lines in auto part stores so i was wondering if the MF DA system is gonna be available locally at like O'Rielly's, Auto Zone etc.......? i know it would be real nice to be able to pick it up locally. just think about it. you are in the middle of a detail and somehow your bottle of D300 gets stepped on, smashed or something and now you have no more. well instead of trying to find a new product that is gonna work and get same results while you wait for your new D300 to come in mail wouldn't it be nice to be able to make a quick run to the parts store to pick more up to be able to finish the job? as we know anything can happen and usualy does when there is no time for mistakes.

It has as much or more to do with what the retailers want to carry as it does with Megs supplying them. If they don't want it, they won't carry it no matter how convenient it would be for the user. There just isn't a market big enough right now for a store to carry every Megs product out. Too many of them would sit there for years waiting to be sold. It's a limited market.2000 Ford Explorer XLT "Deuce"

Re: MF DA system OTC?
A couple of points...
I have heard M105 and M205 can be found at some of the above retailers.
I've never seen a DA at a retailer, only the model that needs a handle to wax floors.
Retailers have no need for the Meguiar's MF DA system if they don't sell DA polishers.
Consumers need to be educated and have a little training in order to be able to use a DA.
On the bright side, if all product consumers knew how to polish paint they wouldn't need us.

the O'Rielly's near me carries rotary buffers which are more "dangerous" than a DA in the wrong hands. all i am saying is it would be nice to have this kit locally and the part stores near me carry products that need just as much knowledge to use properly as does the MF kit

Re: MF DA system OTC?
Have you talked to the managers of any of these stores? maybe they will carry some more products if you ask and also buy from them... if there is no demand for the products they probably won't ever carry it in stock. they might also be able to get you some of these items next day if it's not on the shelf.Joel

Re: MF DA system OTC?
Just to add...my local 'specialty store' carries Megs, 3M (plus others) products. Backing plates, Meg pads and the like (which isn't too bad for a small town store).
But I was talking to the manager last week about the MF system...didn't have a clue on what I was talking about. He did mentioned about all the new products from Meg, so he appears to be in the loop.
So, I'm just thinking maybe some items from Meg (or any company) may never get done to the local level. Just some things are too specialized.

Re: MF DA system OTC?
Aurora, Illinois is a large enough area that you should be able to find an Auto Paint & Body store that would stock these. I am in the Kansas City metro area and there are two of those within a 15 minute drive from my house (non-rush hour drive times).
I am in agreement with two of the sentiments already posted - request the items that you will buy and that the parts generalists (AutoZone, O'Reilly's, etc) have to justify space taken up on their shelves by the item turnover ratio. Sometimes the parts generalists will have those item(s) in the servicing warehouse and they can be there later that day or the next business day.

Re: MF DA system OTC?
Another thought is maybe 3M is having some say in this too. Wouldn't they want their products out there on the shelf with the Pro stuff as well, just a thought.
Actually since the merger, I think I have noticed more Detailer line items out, but then again maybe I am just looking for them more.
One thing we probably have to realize is that we probably have waaaaay more knowledge about a certain (Megs) product than some random store worker, especially considering all the stuff they have to worry about having in the store and such."Difficult takes a day, impossible takes a week." Jay-Z

Re: MF DA system OTC?
I expect that the MF products will eventually end up on retail shelves. Many thanks to Meguiars to supporting their on-line retailers first who have carried and marketed their products for years.
I, too, would appreciate the opportunity to drive 2 miles to an Autozone store and buy needed products. However, the MF products are very specialized and wouldn't have a high turnover - which retail stores want.Art Layton
