  • paint rims?

    My rims look like ****. I might paint them black. any ideas on how to do it? Im gonna try to sand them a little bit to get an even surface and then paint them black....

      what i did was take a wire brush attach o n a grinder. take off the paint. sand it with 80 -100 grit sand paper in teh cracks. hit it with primer. then paint them. hope this helps bro

                If you need to paint them, there is a lot of prep work that needs to be done. You will need to remove old paint or sand down to at least 320 or 400 grit (perhaps get shot blasted), use spot filler putty to fill road rashes, sand again, prime with an appropriate primer (one that can handle high heat ie. brake cycles), and then wheel paint. You can do all of this (except shot blasting) at home! If you do not sand well enough or use the correct products, you will have only OK results. Do it once and do it right the first time!

                  I would assume that the type of metal makes a difference. Otherwise it will come down to sanding, priming, painting, and then clear coat if desired. Just remember that the prep work will determine the results.
