We didnt really do too much detailing but the fit and finish was very good. Quality of all th einterior trim seemed to be very good as well.

I would definatly say all thins considered the Phaeton is on par with the other high liners.

If I had to choose between an E500 and a phaeton I still think I would take the benz ( based on style ), if I hadnt drivin the phaeton I wouldnt have even considered it.

Awesome car, I got to test drive one about 8 months ago. Truely a luxury machine

And what a fun drive, i've done it many times. Next time you go up take this route:

Take the 5 to the 58 in buttonwillow
Take the 58 over to the 101 in Santa Margarita and then get on the 1.

The 58 is a FUN drivers road, it's about 80 miles, w/ 20 miles of straights and 60 miles of beautifull twists. ANd the best is it's just empty. I've probably driven it a dozen times and theres been a few of those where I haven't seen a sole!

      Chopped 55 Suburban
      99 3.0 CL
      Family cars:
      1958 Eldo Biarrittz Vert
      48 Merc Woody - a true sleeper
      New project: 67 Sunbeam Tiger
      Newest project: 66 Mustang Vert

        DETLMAN,
Thanks for the info. I guess as many benz owners say, there is something about the three pointed star which tells people you have arrived. The VW badge does not say this.

        HotRodGuy,
Nice road and view, but you just spoiled a great and secret drive by tell people on the internet. J/K. 58 sounds like great road to drop a knee.

Talk it over folks. Communication is the key.

Beautifull ! Thanks for the info!

Teak, I guess there is that difference :-) I just didnt think the v-dub was all that sharp looking.

Personally I would rather have my mini than either of them.

We took the mini to the track last weekend and had a blast !

So was this drive experience sponsored by VW?

Range Rover sponsored a "tour" across the U.S. and one of the stops was Kohler, WI, only about 35 minutes from my house. I was just writing in for a brochure and they sent me an invitation......

It was awesome! At the American Club, it started out with some good food, then we took it through the countryside, tested out the onroad performance, and finally our personal driving instructor took us to an off-road track on the grounds of Road America in Elkhart Lake that was made especially for this event, and we went off-roading! It was awesome-the things we did were mind-blowing and scary at times. It really makes you wanna buy one (they gave us a $2000 off "coupon").

They also offered Holland and Holland trap-shooting (which I missed ) and "culinary school" as extra events. A goodie bag ended the exciting day.

            Was it similar to that?
