So what exactly happens when a forum is hacked?

          Re: Malware attacks Megs' site

This happened to another forum I've been to, I think Audiforums last year, or two years ago. Basically whenever I type in the URL I get linked to the hacker's website, which also happened to be a forum.

Meguiarsdirect.com is working, I guess just the homepage is down.

Just checked on firefox. Still a problem. But after reading the diagnostics, google says the hosts distributing the malware are both google itself...

Hackers should be sent to federal prison for 8 full years.
I am guessing it is a cross site scripting or sql injection with url redirect to a bad site.

Pour lots of bird foot on the rooftop of the building next to the car. We'll see whose car looks cleaner the morning after.

Hi Mike, what are the implications of meguiar's main site being hacked? Has any vital information been tampered with? Has your security team been able to determine any info to track the hacker(s) down?

Someone whose username means "newbie hacker" is asking such question???

We know it's you dude, we will be contacting federal bureau of investigation to trace your IP to confirm whether you are associated with this recent attack!

The most common implication of a site being hacked is the impregnation of trojan software on the script pages. As your username implies, you must have known that already.

                        hahaha...
Well, impregnation of trojan is one possibility, but there are obviously many others. Though I would to hear any indepth info Meg's may have regarding the attack. Maybe its a rival product company

There's really nothing on the meguiars.com website that is all that "vital" that it could be compromised. The servers are separate from the rest of company info and most definitely separate from our ecommerce store, meguiarsdirect.com. That means no credit card info is stored on meguiars.com servers so there's no worries there.

By the way, it appears to be fully resolved now as my browser is no longer giving me the warning message. Browse away guys!!
