I am restoring my '64 bel air to as original as I can. Would it make a difference, on value, if I used a base coat clear coat vs a single stage?

It will be easier to work with if you get a BC-CC but lacquer would be more appropriate for that model of car. I'm in the same boat for my car, I'm only getting the nose, hood and passenger side front quarter panel repainted but still.

If I was Restoring a car to compete for AACA I would use Original Paint,If I wanted a car to keep and enjoy I would Base/Clear both for ease of application and for Shine and color hold out over the years to come.Clear Coat gives you the UV protection. If it was a solid color I would go Single Stage and mix clear in with my last 2 coats.
          Just my opinion.

this particular years they used a metalic fawn. They used this particular color for only 3-5 years. So a clear coat would help hold the metalic but it would not necessarly hold the value of the car. Am I understanding you all right?

It would depend on your goal for the car. If all other areas of the car were 100% stock/Original than I would say clear coat could have negative effect on the resale value, But if there were other non stock issues or you were going to keep the car, I would clear.

              Hope that helps.

The color that you see is what we want to do again. We have been told by some people that we need to keep it as original as possible so the value of the car remains at its highest. If that makes scense.

Hey bro.! There will not be much transformation since the interior and under the hood is in great shape. Color will remain the same as seen in the pics. Just updated a little. Will keep posted.
