Bill and others, Here is the car for Jan., 2013. I looked up VW KARMANN GIA, but no luck. Maybe a Volvo?

How about 1972 volvo p1800? Exact model 2 door coupe? Note no large square yellow turn marker on side of front 1/4 panel just behind headlight.

It's definitely a P1800. They were produced for '61-'72 and looked virtually identical all those years. Later models (starting around 1968) had the square side marker lights to comply with US safety laws. I've searched google images form 1967 and 1969 for the original and haven't found it yet. Wheels are probably not original, as P1800's had either a plain steel wheel or wires. I've got to leave for work so I'll try some other years later if time permits.

That black grill shows up in 1970 model, but has square side marker lites. This site details differences between models - http://volvo1800pictures.com/from_year_to_year/1970.php . This might be a prototype model?

Not to complicate matters, but only the US-spec cars had the marker lights. Cars built for the Euro market did not have them, even in later years.

The '70 through '73 had a black grille, so I know it's one of those years, which would make it an 1800S ('70-'72) or 1800ES ('72-'73). I can't find a pic anywhere with the same wheels, so I'm still not sure enough to call it exact.

Bill, Using your hints, I found the pic he used, including the wheels. It is a 1972 Volvo P 1800 E. It was restored in Europe. It is on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkOynvkm-mg

                At 2:38 into the video.
                And on flicker http://www.flickr.com/photos/classicargarage/5751781331/in/set-72157626660996111/.

Should I call it a 2 door coupe
                ?

Nice work. I'd think 1972 Volvo P1800E should be adequate, as P1800's were all coupes. Save that flickr link, as he may use it again.

No word from the contest - he did say he had a winner.
Here is the new mystery truck:

You're very close. It's a '56 Ford F100. The grill is slightly different for each year.

I know from past contests that the guy who runs the contest is very picky. Maybe your answer should be "1956 Ford F100 truck with fugly 70-something fake wire wheel covers".

Just to add if necessary, it does have a V-8. Notice the grill emblem.

OT: Ahhh memories! Twas my first truck.

He did not accept my 1956 f-100 answer - said no winner. New pic - I think it is 197? Plymouth station wagon
