Re: Can you help me name this car?

I'm working today, so no time available to search the web, but I'd recommend looking in the 1938-'41 time period. The "sweptback" or fastback style isn't really visible on many 30's cars, except for the Mopar Airflow models, but '42 and later models tended to have longer front fenders that flowed into the doors. So far, I've ruled out Chrysler products, as well as Packard, Cadillac, Ford, Buick and Chevrolet. I'm thinking since it's the big finale of the contest, it's most likely an obscure discontinued brand, so when time is permits I'll start looking at some of the forgotten nameplates.

The 41 Cadillac does look about right and has all the same features. I've found several images to go with that, but looking all this up I found that Buick copied the body style as did Bentley. Not sure what years they had it or whether or not it had all the same things. I'll keep looking though.

sconrad, where in WV are you? I scanned the newspaper, and darkened it. Hope this helps. Could it be a LaSalle?

Could it be 1941 chevy special delux? I flipped it to same view.

I'm probably wrong, but I'm going to guess late 30's Lincoln Zephyr, possibly a '36.

I live in Keyser, WV now which it just outside of Cumberland, MD. I used to live in Elkins, WV for several years.

As for the car, I'm stumped. I have found several that have similar things. But I can't narrow this one down. I'll keep looking though.

The only thing that makes me go against it being a Caddy is that everyone I seen had a hood ornament. I can't see one in the photo from the newspaper though.

Talked to the guy who runs the contest. Said nobody guessed it right. Said it was very simple. Said everybody was guessing "special this and that". Says he might run it again sometime. I guessed the last car, but said one guy got it the 1st day, and 7 others got it right - 1959 El Camino.

Well here is the next car. I don't have a clue. Notice the boxy truck.

They are online and I can get better pics now.

It's a '39 Chevrolet town Sedan. I can't tell for sure if it's a Master or Master Deluxe model, but I think the chrome lower fender trim, which has been painted in this picture, indicates a Master Deluxe. '37 and '38 models looked similar, but the headlights were higher. '40 models molded the headlights into the fenders.
