    Saddest to me:
Saving Private Ryan ( there is a reason why that generation is considered the greatest generation. I can only hope to be half the man of a WWII veteran)

Always Steven Spielberg's underrated movie about forest firefighters. Very good performances and excellent story lines.

Sophie's Choice I saw it as a kid and really didn't understand the magnatude of the movie until much later.

Flight 93 is a movie/documentary if you will. It is based on the plight of United Airlines Flight 93, which was the plane during the 9/11 attacks to go down in a rural field in Pennsylvania. There are actors who portray the real people in that plane, but it follows the true events that transpired. Very emotional story.

Saving Private Ryan is probably the only serious movie Vin Diesel has ever been involved in. Think about it... Vin Diesel in a WWII movie!!!

His role was also very well paid from what I've read... $1.5million! And his appearance in the movie was almost like one of cameo.

Shane...Thanks for the links. I knew what flight 93 was and was the only one that had a struggle to regain control, just I didn't know there was a film made. But I'll read them all the same.

I heard What Dreams May Come is insanely sad too. I like Robin Williams a lot, guess I should check that one out.

You know I didn't know that he was in the movie until a few years ago I was watching it and it dawned on me! He was just starting out in this movie.

The saddest movies for me are.
Saving Private Ryan, as everyone has mentioned.
The Thin Red Line, came out a little bit after Private Ryan but is bar none as good, if not better then Private Ryan as it takes you into the minds and emotions of soldiers in combat.
Band of Brothers, Excellent mini series that takes you thru the course of WWII from stateside to D-Day onwards to the Eagles Nest. The main character is a role model for me, especially since he's from my area.

As Golden posted, Pay It Foward and My Girl are big time sappers too!
For those who fought for it, freedom has a flavor the protected will never know.

I had no idea the Vin was in Saving Private Ryan.

Another film is 'Alive',which is a true story. Amazing the distance and terrain those guys travelled to get help,in those conditions.

I haven't seen the latest version of that movie, but I did see the 1960's version of it.

I've seen first hand what drugs can do to people, especially heroin and cocaine, and I share these feelings. Surprisingly I've never thought of Requiem for a Dream as a sad movie. His girlfriend gets what's coming to her, he is an idiot for not recognizing his arm as a problem and Marlon Wayans deserves to go to jail for selling drugs.

Want to see a sad movie about drug abuse: "Candy" with Heath Ledger. Great movie, profoundly moving and top notch acting from the late Ledger.

Romance + Death and War + Death are the worst.
