        Happy 17TH

I am working on my 24th

17 the 1st time and 7 the 2nd and counting.

The 1st time I settled for one I could live with.

This time I waited for the one I could not live without.

The secret to a long marriage ? A sense of humor,Gentleman Jack (large bottles) and seperate vacations. Its been working since 1969 for us. Working at a trucking company and being gone a lot hasn't hurt either. LOL

            Congrats sir.

Been two amazing years of learning about myself, and I can't wait to learn more.

Congrats! My wife and I are at 13 years and counting (quite an accomplishment since I have been in the Marines since before we were married).

Congrats, and thanks for this thread. It is great to hear about people thankful for their wives (at least from the guys who have posted) and proud to be married. I get tired of seeing how marriage is portrayed in both movies and TV -- my life is NOT a soap opera, thank you very much!

It amazes me to see how many people, I've only seen replys from men here, have succeded in making marriage work. I learned from my parents and my grandparents on how to make marriage work. I am still learning from my parents. To see my Dad still love and care for my Mom, who has Alzimers and is in a memory care unit, after all they have been through is truely a testement of how a marriage can and does work.

I'm going for my 3rd anniversary in a few months
Also learned from my parents, what to do and yes, what not to do to make your marriage successful.
I just can't be thankful enough for my wife, she supports my hobbies (like this "car crazy") and I support hers (like cooking... how the heck would I not support that? )

                          Re: 17 year of marriage

It'll be 28 years for me, not always easy, but well worth it. A good relationship takes a lot of work. Seems to many don't want to work through the tough times.
