    Re: Question about Colbert/Stewart

Both tend to have a liberal bent. However, that being said I enjoy both shows and can take the republican bashing with a grain of salt. In the end, they are entertainers and darn good ones at that. I agree that Jon Stewart tends to wear his politics on his sleeve and is genuinely passionate about the political world. My political views will not be shaped by either of these entertainers (or any public figure for that matter), however I do enjoy the discourse.

Jeremy Piven should definitely do stand up. He's just as angry as Lewis Black is not more angry.

This is different than CNN, Nightline, 60 minutes, Fox News........how?

It's all about the ratings. There are very few (if any) Walter Cronkite's out there today.

I miss Craig Kilborn and the three questions.

Best episode ever: Guest was Sammy Hagar from Van Halen. #3 question was: "Who is the blond woman that broke up Van Halen". Sammy Answered: "David Lee Roth?"

Both political comedians, check them out on Comedy Central, you wouldn't regret it!

I'm not a fan of either. I don't really appreciate political comedy, it's fairly repetitive and not much of a laughing matter in my opinion. Colbert seems rather smug and pretentious from my perspective, while I liked Stewart more when he was doing stand-up comedy in the early 90's.

This thread is not too bad, but a friendly reminder about Rule#6

    6. No politics.

I truly admire Stewart's enthusiasm about politics. I don't agree with much of things he says, but he is a true patriot. I never really understand why Colbert is more popular than Stewart. Colbert was rated by a man's magazine as the most influential person in the world, out of a list of around a hundred, with Brad Pitt being somewhere in the middle.

Not sure if you notice, when Colbert and Stewart have a little conversation right between their shows, Colbert always mocks Stewart, and Stewart does nothing other than take to the jokes up his butt. Colbert's arrogance towards hosts of other television shows and his guests literally turned me away from his show.

Colbert also explicitly and publicly expresses his distaste towards Jon Stewart. He claims that Stewart treated him like a dog while he was working as a show correspondent at The Daily Show by Jon Stewart. Colbert has clearly forgotten that his fame comes from Jon Stewart. Without Jon Stewart's The Daily Show, the Colbert Report wouldn't exist.
Colbert reminds me of Ari Gold from Entourage, and pretty much every character Jeremy Piven plays (powerful businessman or rich agent). It's really entertaining when Jeremy Piven acts like an arrogant powerful man, but Colbert... eh... it's funny from time to time.

Just about all television is Democrat these days.

    Jay, Conan, Jimmy ,etc.

Letterman claims to be Independent though.
