    Re: Question about Colbert/Stewart

I miss Craig Kilborn and the three questions.

Best episode ever: Guest was Sammy Hagar from Van Halen. #3 question was: "Who is the blond woman that broke up Van Halen". Sammy Answered: "David Lee Roth?"

To put them both in proper perspective, they are "entertainers", not politicians or pundits or news commentators or journalists. They mostly read what their writers write. If they can creat an increase in ratings....then they are doing their job. Facts have little value to their shows.

This is different than CNN, Nightline, 60 minutes, Fox News........how?

It's all about the ratings. There are very few (if any) Walter Cronkite's out there today.

I think I prefer Lewis Black to both Stewart and Colbert. I like that anger...

And I agree- I liked Craig Kilborn- some nonsensical comedy, (edited for content....Mike P.)

Jeremy Piven should definitely do stand up. He's just as angry as Lewis Black is not more angry.

Both tend to have a liberal bent. However, that being said I enjoy both shows and can take the republican bashing with a grain of salt. In the end, they are entertainers and darn good ones at that. I agree that Jon Stewart tends to wear his politics on his sleeve and is genuinely passionate about the political world. My political views will not be shaped by either of these entertainers (or any public figure for that matter), however I do enjoy the discourse.
