    What? No Meguiars shirt on?

Actually, I had something like that to happen to me one time, but it was with a couple of Wal-Mart employees. I just happened to have my black Meguiars shirt on, and I presume the associates thought I worked for Meguiars.

There are a lot of misinformed people out there who don't know any better. I'm sure that you have fallen victim to great marketing as well. Don't look down upon tw users, because most probably don't know what you know about car care. You should let those people know what you do know and show them how great Meguiar's products are and how they are reputable and solid.

You also don't want other tw users to stop by here and see comments like that as it could offend them, just keep it friendly , no need to bash.
I don't have anything against Turtle Wax as a company, I was merely pointing out that I have used their products in the past and when compared with Meguiar's products I was receiving less than stellar results, though I didn't realize it at the time since I hadn't used Meguiar's. I'm sure there are people who swear by Turtle Wax, and that's fine. There's a market for every product. I just wasn't completely happy with it. After trying Meguiar's products for the first time, I realized that Meguiar's has that quality and care that I had been searching for. For me, they're the best. I ought to know - I've wasted way too much money on other company's products that didn't meet my standard. Here Mike Phillip's adage comes to mind, "Find something you like and use it often." If it works for the guy next door (not referring to my neighbors - they never clean their cars, lol), then so be it. But for me, there's no going back. Now I just have to buy all of Meguiar's products so I can find out what i like the best.

Re: I made Meguiars a couple bucks

what really made me mad was one day I was looking for meguiars stuff, and there was this tag hanging around the TW Quick Detailer green bottle saying
"Better than Meguiars Quik Detailer"...... seriously, is that the proper way to market its product????

I'll take a picture of it and post it here if I see the tag again...

That is correct, and thank you for that. That is why you will see I didn't warn you for breaking a rule, but kindly reminded everyone what the rule was for future reference.

As Mark points out, his comment was not directed at you personally. Previously the_invisible made a very good point, essentially that since this forum is owned and managed by Meguiar's rather than being a strictly stand alone entity, there are certain other considerations to be acknowledged.

Even so, we have no issue with other products being mentioned and discussed, we just have that important rule about bashing other products and/or people.

There was one TW product I used to use, before I learned about Meguiars, named TR3 Resin Glaze.

It did a decent job of removing surface contamination, and protecting the paint as well.

I did try TW Ultra Gloss Platinum Detailer before. A nice product. Nothing wrong with it. I was a big fan of their Express Shine spray wax; I switched once I found UQW. At least they get the job done. I think my biggest gripe was the ICE products. I spent about $40 on the ICE liquid polish, the liquid clay, and the interior stuff. I just felt that for the money, I should have gotten better results. That's all. Certainly nothing wrong with Turtle Wax, but I do love being a convert!

Re: I made Meguiars a couple bucks

Yep funny how that is......I was talking to a guy at work and telling him about Meg's stuff and even just the benfit of claying after you wash. Well today he went down and bouth the clay bar kit, got his truck washed (which I said he should do by hand) and I went to his house. I showed him how to do the clay bar and he took over and just couldn't beleive all the junk he was getting off the paint even though he had just gotten it washed.

EVen took the bugs off his headlights and mirrors and he was mystified. He wanted to wax it so I gave him a can of M16 and he did the whole thing and was very impressed.

MAde a believer out of him and made Megs a couple of dollars. When I get my g110 here soon I'll really show'em what you can do.

I did a "clay kit demo" for a coworker today. I explained to him how well it removed contaminants. I had him rub his hand over the hood of a car to feel the "grit" and told him how easy it was to remove. Although I had to mime the whole thing he was impressed and was off to pick up a kit after work. I sold someone on Meguiar's without actually demonstrating the real product.

I shake my head and grab some UQD right in front of them.

It must be a marketing thing by TW, or some people really just don't use Meguiar's products as directed and not get the good results.
When I first started detailing all I bought was turtle. For some weird reason I just find the brand reassuring, until I found this forum and basically 90% of my current products are Megs.
