I've done dirt bike racing, autoX, and drag racing. Been to 165 a few times for a few miles at a time. I've even been sideways at 100 and saved it (on the track).
I like to think I can handle it, but of course I would never try to out run the police.

It's not worth my life or any of the other people on the road!!!

The video you posted took place about 40 miles from where I live, it was a stolen corvette from California.
Saw it on Tru TV the other night. Vettes pretty much disintegrate once they hit something. I'm surprised the driver survived. I guess it was lucky he sideswiped that rig - woulda been a different story had he hit it head-on.

Yeah all the fiberglass goes flying, but it still has a solid safety cage to protect the occupants.
You don't think our goverment would let GM sell something dangerous to the public do you...lol

BTW, the Corvette was the only car not tested for rollover protection, seems the testing facility couldn't get one to roll over during extreme manuvering.
There have been pictures of rolled over Corvette verts, and the top still supported the full weight of the car.

Let's take a step back, and exaim the cars and people who drive them.

Most notibly the Scions. Which are marketed to college students, people in their 20's.
Isn't that also the age bracket with the most tickets?

Perhapps it's the people driving the cars and not the cars that get tickets?

I think Paul is onto something. A lot of those vehicles are popular with the younger drivers - particularly younger drivers known for racing.

Re: What cars get the most speeding tickets?

As Paul mentioned, no vehicle has _every_ been ticketed. It's the drivers who get the tickets. If you think certain color vehicle's get ticketed more often this is only because sports vehicles usually have flashy colors. It's not often that you see a POS 20 year old Hyundai painted cherry red or canary yellow. The people who drive high performance vehicles are the type of people who are going to speed in them. If a police officer points their radar/laser at a vehicle it's not because it's a bright color... it's because they think it might be speeding, period.

A couple of years ago I asked a friend of mine that’s a cop what cars get ticketed the most. And in the town he works in they keep track of the model of the car, the age of the driver, and the *** of the driver. He told me it was the SUVs with married 40 to 55 year old woman. fficeffice" />

I've never been pulled over in my metallic carmine red Olds Cutlass Calais or even looked at in my 'rents forest green 1995 Volvo 850 turbo station wagon. I am of the age to get stopped/ticketed the most and I've never been pulled over.

Actually Vettes have a very low radar profile and are more difficult to clock with radar than other vehicles. The same does not apply to laser though.

This thread raises another question. Is a car with glossy paint more or less likely to get ticketed?

I've been a commercial truck driver for 25 years and I would say that most SUVS driven in an aggressive/speedy manner are driven by women in this age group. And they are usually on the phone! Just my observation anyway.....

                              Good thinking Calais!
Or don't get caught! I've been driving since I was 18...I am 55. I have never had a speeding ticket or a moving violation. Not to say I have never broke the law though! Got my truck up to 130 on a trip to Reno...but it was a straightatway and I knew what was behind and in front of me.

Found this interesting tidbit for anybody who's interested:

                                Speeding Ticket Facts

Interesting speeding ticket facts & statistics you don't see everyday.

                                By Damon Dallah
Over 100,000 people a day receive a speeding ticket in this country.

That’s over 41,000,0000 speeding tickets per year.

One in every 6 drivers will get a speeding ticket this year.

The average speeding ticket costs $150.00.

                                41,000,000 x 150.00 = $6,150,000,000 That's over 6 BILLION dollars per year in speeding ticket fines alone

The average raise in insurance costs for one speeding ticket over the course of 3 years is $900.00

Multiply 900 by 41,000,000 and you get $36,900,000,000 (36.9 BILLION dollars) in extra insurance money the insurance industry makes in a single year just from speeding tickets

Over 95% of people who receive a speeding ticket never contest it and just pay the fine

The other 5% who make an effort to fight their ticket usually have their case dismissed or receive reduced charges that don’t get reported on their driving record

There are 196,000,000 licensed drivers in America today.

A police officer will fail to show up to court between 30 to 50% of the time. This is immediate grounds for a dismissal

Paradise Valley, Arizona, in 1987 became the first town in America to use photo radar

Brooklyn, Ohio became the first city to mandate seat belts while driving back in 1966

The age groups between 17 and 24 years of age receive the most speeding tickets

More men than women receive speeding tickets

More women fight their speeding tickets than men.

Seventeen year old drivers are more likely to be involved in an accident than any other age group.

In July 1879, two men are fined for speeding horses in Seattle.

Henry Ford's first motor vehicle, built in 1894, only went forward.

Traffic lights were used before the advent of the motorcar. In 1868, a lantern with red and green signals was used at a London intersection to control the flow of horse buggies and pedestrians.

Since 1999, Washington, D.C. cameras have issued 2,421,841 tickets worth $182 million.

The earliest known speeding ticket on file was issued in 1910 to the Prime Minister of Canada’s wife. She was traveling at a whopping 10 mph over the limit

Doctors receive the most speeding tickets than any other profession.

The average traffic cop will cost a city about $75,000 per year in salary, bonuses, and benefits. This same police officer will make the city an average of $200,000 per year in traffic ticket fines! That’s one hell of a profit margin.
