I'm getting closer to getting a magnum RT! I've been looking at some catback exhaust systems.
So far I'm leaning to flowmaster's catback system with the super 40 series mufflers.

I'm looking for quiet rumble at idle, to deep throaty sounds on acceleration.

I've also looked at the SLP exhausts but I think they are way to loud. A borla system would be perfect but a bit expensive.

Anyone have any knowledge to offer on this?

I've had Flowmaster's on a couple of vehicles and have always been very, very please with both sound under wide open throttle and sound at cruising.

Dynomax. I had flowmasters for years on different vehicles. I got sick of the drone on the highway. I built a big motor for my truck and the flowmaster on it was just nasty while cruising, switched it to a dynomax Ultraflow SS and it is great. Not overly loud but sounds nasty when I hop on the skinny petal and zero drone on the highway at any speed.
If its fast, loud, and runs on a flammable liquid...count me in.

If you dig deep, you will likely find that most serious performance modified vehicles avoid Flowmaster. Flowmaster is known for being loud... but it is also known for lackluster power gains, or even power loss in some applications.

Borla is a high quality product, but is priced accordingly.

Maganflow is a middle of the road type product with a decent price and solid performance gains. I've never heard of Magnaflow being pricey, but I don't buy retail either.

I put Magnaflow on my Ranger for $175 installed, $265 installed on my F150.

One thing you will notice is the labor prices for installation vary immensly by region. Lots of people in Texas report full exhaust systems installed for half the price they charge in San Diego.

Just do some research, shop around, and don't over pay.

the magnaflow catback systems I looked at were I think $1075 comapred to about $700 on the flowmaster. At that rate I may as well get the Borla system for about $1075. When I check the internet it's hard to find prices because all the websites refer you to a local dealer.

I don't know a whole lot about exhaust, actually I have no mechanical ability at all. but I have "a guy."

A used exhaust that was "taken off" of an SRT8. I put a take off SRT4 exhaust on my Neon. I love it. Best of all it was free! Take offs are usually fairly inexpensive compared to a new, aftermarket name brand exhaust. I'd imagine you could pick one up for a couple hundred and it will bolt right up.

Holy cow! That's some pricey piping!

I suggest looking elsewhere. Even a fully custom dual exhaust shouldn't cost more than $5-600!

what about keeping the cat back section and installing the hooker super comp mufflers? save some money and spend it a cold air kit or a programmer.

Where do I find a "take off"? Will it produce the same sounds as an aftermarket brand? I've never heard an SRT-8 exhaust in person.
