Well there is your problem! That's mark-up city.

Call local exhaust shops and get quotes. Expect LARGE variances from one to the next.

Classifieds most likely. An exhaust shop may have one around.

If a borla system runs under $600 that is definately what I'll get. Does Borla have different types of exhausts? If so what should I get?

I have flowmaster 2-chamber mufflers on my Magnum R/T and left the factory resonators on so I can still hear myself think. You can tell it has flows but your head does not explode on the highway. If you want it louder have the mufflers installed and have the resonators removed and whoa!!

I'm not sure about your exact application. I would try and google your application and write down the part numbers. See if there is variance.

My guess is there will be a stainless steel option (costs more, lasts longer, especially if you have snow or lots of wet weather), or aluminum piping (cheaper, but still should last 10+ years in a non-snow belt area).

Usually there are 2 different options for each vehicle.

I'll need the stainless here in wisconsin. I did some further checking and found exhaust systems at $600-700 were all for 6cyl. Found a borla system for $780 on ebay.

super 40 series mufflers are louder than the 2-chamber muffler?

Yikes, I don't know. I got an SVT Borla stainless system for $225 before installation direct from Ford Racing.

My Magnaflow systems I always bought from the installation shops themselves.

Online isn't that great for exhaust shopping IME, try local shops.

another option is to get the in-house piping and just buy the name brand muffler and tips. That will cut the price down a lot. The difference in "performance" will not be noticeable on a daily driver by any means.

No but whatever you do, put cut outs in, it'll sound so nice!

I used to have a dodge ram with straight pipes on it. It sounded awesome and i could set off car alarms in parking lots just starting it!

the cut offs...are those electric? I think I came across some on my internet search.
