    Re: Buffing cart...

    Darn Nick.
I was going to suggest taking a Dual Halogen lights on a stand, then making a whole in the middle of your buffer cart. This way you would have lights on the bottom and the top.

But still an excellent idea, and it looks great!!

That thing is awesome. If the majority of my details were not mobile, I would make one for sure. Problem is, I can barely fit my supplies in my Focus now...no way that cart is gonna make it along for the trip.

No way this thing is going with me on details. This is strickly for the garage at my house. I do about 80% of my buff and polish jobs at my place, so it'll get plenty of use. I just got tired of dragging around my rotary and 3" Metabo, plus dragging a light around, trying to manage all the power cords getting tangled up, and the air hose(yes, I drag the air house around with me also). This keeps 1 home for almost everything.
I ran up to Lowes yesterday and bought 4 swivel casters for it. The cart came with 2 swivel and 2 stationary casters. Made things tough for getting the cart exactly where I wanted it to have the lights in the right place. With 4 swivel casters, I can put it wherever I want without a problem.

Need to work on that top light a bit. Would like to make it a bit more eye appealing It raises and lowers just like the halogen light stands. Just doesn't look very pretty

Nice job on the cart Nick. Be careful with the swivel casters on all four corners. You don't have as much control and it could roll into the vehicle you are detailing. Just a thought.

No, I don't think it's that unpredictable. Plus, I'm not pushing it very far or fast. Just a graceful move as I move around the vehicle.

You could also fit the cart with locking casters.

But it is a nuisance to remember to unlock them.

Yeah, I thought about that. But decided against it. Too much touble, and I really don't think I'll need them to lock.

Great idea. I like LED as opposed to Halogens though, Harbor frieght has a nice set lil pricey though but work great.

Have you have any issues with the cords being too short when attached to the cart? Looks like they might be just perfect length but I'm not sure.

SO far, so good. they are all about 6' or longer, so they have enough reach. This was mainly built for the sides of the vehicles, but can also use it for the horizontal panels, just have to have a separate light to work off of.

Really? I just find LED not bright enough. Maybe I haven't tried the right light yet

I was considering hanging a 4 ft flourescent setup off a dual halogen light setup but your cart idea definitely is more multipurpose. I think they spread light better for better general use like when washing/waxing in the garage and you are looking for missed areas.
