Called my CC company today and the first thing they did was issue credit to my account. It appears if PayPal doesn't eat this (assuming there's no money in his account to refund) it sounds like my CC will.

Found another guy peddling Rain X with a $1 starting bid, free shipping and only 1 positive transaction. Jumped right on it and got 3 bottles for 3 bucks Um... well... maybe!

Yeah, it seemes everyone who purchased from him finally left him the feedback he deserved... It was at 6 last night, but ended at -4.

Anyways, a chargeback will withdraw the amount from your PayPal account even if there are no funds (just give a negative amount). In the event that the chargeback is finalized in favor of the seller, the seller will have the amount deposited in his account.

Most of the time, the PayPal seller will have a bank account attached. So, PayPal can go ahead and withdraw the amount he may have deposited.

I'm surprised that your bank account reimbursed you so fast! It took atleast a week for my bank to do the same. Even though the amount is deposited, it does not mean they have closed the case and decided the transaction in your favor. You should recieve some instructions in the mail on how to follow up with the chargeback.

Oughta be interesting to see how PayPal handles the chargeback. I don't keep a balance in my account and always pay by CC.

I wouldn't expect a balance there if the guy's got half a brain.

I'm still unsure about the scam-aspects. At first glance it looks like the guy started with smaller auctions and performed, although many of the buyers of the bigger lots got their stuff as well. No rhyme or reason for who got there stuff either... some of the buyers that got hosed were weeks old, others that got their stuff were much more recent... for the same items! Just somethin' strange about it all. If the guy's a total scam he sure didn't aim very high. And compromising a personal bank account and using PayPal leaves a trail that leads right back to him. Course, ya don't have to be a rocket scientist to try to get away with a scam.

Phone rep told me to expect to see the credit in a couple of days, it was there within hours. I went that route because I don't expect anything satisfactory to come from PayPal's "Buyer's Protection". Only thing they do at this point is send an e-mail to the guy and give him 3 weeks to respond. Like *that's* gonna happen. Then they give you a refund IF there's any loot in the guy's account. Ummmm, does anyone really think there is? Both PayPal and eBay, IMO, are only paying lip service to buyer's protection so they can put a reassuring logo on their Web sites.

As for eBay, I went round and round in circles looking for direct contact info. Every link I clicked on took me to a FAQ or Help page with no contact info. And all of it basically implied if you paid with PayPal 'don't bother us, bother them'. :::shrug::: My CC has a Buyer's Protection feature so I oughta be covered one way or another. I expect when the 2 resolutions meet somewhere PayPal is probably gonna produce some kind of wrinkle.

Up to you, if you're going to wait for PayPal you might want to check with your bank to see if there's any time limit on filing a complaint or initiating a chargeback in case PayPal ends up telling you yer outta luck.

Glad to hear it. My Chargeback has yet to be resolved by PayPal, but I got the cash back so I'm not too concerned.

I got an e-mail from another of this guy's buyers, you may have seen his numerous negative Feedbacks. He paid for a bunch of stuff... to the tune of $300+ and tracked me down from my Feedback to see what results I'd had.

Funny, just yesterday morning he got notification dated weeks ago that he'd won a case of Royal Purple Deja vu all over again....

This is the FIRST time PayPal has done something right!

I got all the money back after the claims went through.

I got none of my money back. It said the case was resolved and they found in my favor but he had no money in his pay-pal account....whatever.
