  • DSLR - Canon Rebel XSi

Well, I just made the plunge into the SLR world! After seeing pics from Nick, and a few other detailers, I had to do it!

I opted for the Canon Rebel XSi. I got it with just the kit lens for now. I'll upgrade later down the road when I get the hang of it and have more money. I have 2 classic Corvette jobs coming up, so hopefully I can get a chance to use it on them.

Nice! That's a great first camera. Read up on how to properly take control of the exposure so you can stay away from the "little green box" mode.

Would that be the "auto mode"?

Congratulations. We should choose a good product by its specs not how it looks.

Yep. The auto mode tries to take the best average photo it can. As soon as you put it in Av, Tv, or M you take more control over the exposure and once you get some experience you'll churn out better pictures than the auto mode.

Right on! I may use the auto mode until I have a better understanding of the camera and photo editing.

I plan to spend some time on here...

I opted for newegg.com since they have been great to me in the past with other orders. $649 for the camera and lens kit, plus I got the starter package.

Sweet camera! Thats the model (450D) I've been eyeing for some months now.

I'm really (and I mean really) new to these dslr field, and remembered there's a few online sites that teaches you the lingo and basic ways of using them, for free. I'll forward them once I find them.

I feel a little better now. Can't wait to see some photos you take with the camera now.

You will have a blast. Pick up a basic book and learn about f-stops and all that good stuff. Then you will have a good base to build on.

                        Happy shooting!

The girl and I are heading up to Blue Fin Bay resort on Lake Superior next weekend. Should be a perfect location for some noob shots of the area. Hopefully it will arive in time.

Newegg! It will probably be there Monday or Tuesday. Unless you spent extra for the fast shipping. I love Newegg, fast and cheap!
