  • The Man Trip

Me and the fellas are planning a "MAN TRIP" for this spring/early summer. we're leaving the women at home and going for about a week.

Anyone have suggestions where to go or what to do? Looking to keep the per person cost to $1000 or less.

You guys could do an all-inclusive getaway at a resort. There are a ton of nice 5-star all-inclusive places you could go to that cost less then $1,000 per person. They're usually 7days and 7nights and they include airfare, resort, food, alcohol, etc. I have a lot of friends and family members that go to them every year and they love them. I had a friend that went to Dominican Republic with his wife for 2 weeks for $1400 per person. That's crazy cheap! Check them out.

What do you like to do? If you enjoy fishing, hiking, kayaking, boating, water skiing, wake boarding or house boating. Try Lake Powell, it's one of my favorite places on Earth.

Personally, I'd love to travel between a couple cities and watch some baseball for a week. Fenway / Canden Yards / Wrigley would be a dream trip for me. Unsure about the cost, but most MLB games are fairly reasonable.

Thats about perfect. that is just like we wanted to do. I'll have to check the prices out...other states that offer kyak/camping trips were unusually really expensive.

If you're leaving the women behind, be sure to hide the credit cards. Your $1000 trip could end up being the cheap part if they get together for a shopping trip

FYI the Lake is in Utah and Arizona, so you have a few choices of marina's to start. The most popular are Wahweep (at the south end near the dam) and Bullfrog (at the north end near the mouth of the Colorado river).

The lake is HUGE, has more coast line than Calif. due to all of the canyons and is around 170 miles long. I spent 7 years working down there and still have not seen the whole lake.

ARA is the operator on the lake. They rent all of the equipment on the lake itself. There are several off lake rental places around Wahweep in Paige Arizona. The only one I know of on the north end near Bullfrog is OffShore Marina.

There are also 1000's of time share house boats in slip and on bouys on the lake. With the financial times being tough, you may be able to sublease a time share from someone who can't use their time. If you Google 'Lake Powell Timeshare or Houseboat', you should get a few hits.

                  Happy vacation,

                  Brock

Hey I live in the Dominican Republic and it's an awesome place to visit
Great beaches, one of the best beaches in the world I would say.

Many many places that offer difference things, depends really what you are trying to do. I would google these places for you to look at and decide
Punta Cana, Bavaro, Cabarete (is the#3 beach for windsurfing in the world)
These all are great beaches that you can find very very good hotels with everything included.

The nice thing is that you really have a nice time and you should take advantage of the exchange rate, right know RDS$35.13 (dominican pesos) for USD$1
