All I have to say is WOW!!! That tops anything I could have thought of. I cannot imagine how much time, effort, and money he put into that car. I turned out pretty nice and the pictures were really good with a great write up.

What an unbelievable achievement. The man is to be congratulated for his hard work, commitment, and attention to detail.
The car, of course, turned out beautifully. How could it not?! A true showcase beauty.
Two questions:
(1) After 51 applications of Zaino and 3 applications of Swissvax (I hope Dalton sold him the stuff at wholesale), what does he do to maintain it? Of course he will wash the car frequently, etc., but will he continue to apply the Swissvax? How often? Will the paint ever need correction again, and if it does, does this mean that he has to begin the whole process all over again?
(2) Is there any scientific data, beyond the purely anecdotal, to support or contradict the belief that a synthetic sealant can be beneficially layered? I know this has been discussed ad nauseam here on MOL, but I was just wondering if anyone has seen any hard evidence and analysis. Everyone has an opinion, always asserted with authority and confidence, but I have never seen anyone justify their claims with data that scientists would find cogent or compelling.
In any case, after all that hard detailing work and money invested, I don't think I would ever be willing to take my car out for a drive. I think I'd just keep it in my living room and adore it every day.

I think Mike's Phillips thread on layering and the "Law of Diminishing Returns" makes the most sense...at some point you're simply removing the previous layer. It's the only post I've come accross that even comes close to explaining one way or the other.
Wow this guys is insane. Car looks amazing and you can see the dedication and passion he put into it. I think I was most impressed with the covers and engraving in the engine compartment. I can't imagine how long it took just to do the write up. All I can say is he makes me feel like I don't spend enough time with my car.
I'm pretty sure there are no haters here, and not a single person is questioning his talent.
The thread is all about layering and why anyone would put so many coats of wax on their paint. Especially someone with his skill and knowledge.
He did it just to say he did it.
He admitted that he couldn't tell the difference after the 8th coat. Yeah it's extreme but why to some take a 500hp Vette and send it off for 500 more?
I do bet that 50 layers of Z is a lot better than one.......because one layer is horrible. Maybe it takes that much to finally get the durability of #21 2.0!
i was going to mention he has worked along side paul dalton, and then sure enough... there's paul helping with the photography. he does some nice work, and i wish we could get those black sheepskin/lambswool spoke brushes here in the states...

Becasue a 1000hp Vette would be sick!
Fair enough. I just wanted you to know that I, nor anyone else was hating on the guy. Honestly, I admire him. I'm just having a hard time understanding his reason behind it. If it was just to one up the guy that had 50 coats than so be it. But if he actually did it for added protection, then is 51 coats really better then say 2-5 coats?
